Bitting specialists/ fellow eventers- i need your help!

Thanks for clearing up the confusion Tabledancer. Yes i do where the controller noseband as you descibed, but only combination bit i have tried was the long shank myler which he just fought and pissed off! I was quite suprised as that bit had been really effective on my last zippy advanced horse and i did wonder if he was fighting because it was too severe. I would love to give your sprenger mouthpiece combination if you think this is more effective than the myler one. I will pm you. Regarding the controller noseband i do put it on snugly but not as tight as it could go. Do you think tightening it will make a difference using curb guards. He already objects to it going on and i do feel slightly guilty making it really tight.

Hi Mule, the link takes me to a page with loads of different combination bits so not sure which one you mean, but would really love to try. I will pm you. He already has bit butter and manuka honey on his mouth liberally. Very annoying as during winter dressage and show jumping is mouth is fine, but once he starts going xc his mouth splits really easy even when just schooling in his ns snaffle when he leans on me.

Hi there, just had a peek at your FB page & can confirm that although we had plenty of spills, it was nothing too disastrous across the 3 days, thank goodness.

It sounds odd, but I have found the very best stuff for mouths that get rubbed or sore is Prep H haemorroid (sp?) cream. It is also a v good lip balm but I tend not to get many takers when people ask for a chap stick or similar out hunting!!!

Be very careful - I know I sound paranoid but I've been told a lot of these piles creams, which work brilliantly, contain banned substances... BE is one thing, but I would definitely not risk it FEI :o

ETA: I mean work brilliantly on cut mouths, can't vouch for anything else
