Bizarre - bruises on inside of legs below knees, after jumping. a 1st.

does anyone else get these? i have never in my entire life had bruised legs from riding, but i do after yesterday.

she was very zoomy, and i was having to grip and brace against her for control, if that makes sense. grip was necessary as i didn't want to hold on by her mouth, obviously.
i can't work out if it's the zoomyness, or the saddle. hmmm. not happy about this at all, don't want to be black and blue all summer!
suggestions please. thankyou.

I get these sometimes. Not sure if they are like little nips from the stirrup leathers, or bruises from gripping. Strange though, as I ride in either ariat close contact chaps or long boots. What do you ride in??

this was in my really nice zip-up long boots. i've worn them tons of times for jumping other horses, never had this.

I get them when I jump my friend's horse but not on my own! I had a nice symmetrical pair last week

It's strange because we have similar saddles and stirrup leathers.

Using a different girth - therefore buckle under your leg in just that place????

I get them now and again from hunting, particularly if I've been in anything other than my lovely soft Butet. Do you think they're more pinches than thumps, if you know what I mean?

Maybe your saddle will soften a bit more if it's still quite new?

no, it's not a new saddle, was just refitted to this horse. it's nice and soft.

Sounds like they are most likely to be from your stirrup leathers

particularly as they are pinches....

yes, kick_On, you're right, they were from gripping, i'm sure. i've never had my leathers pinch through long boots!
i've obviously never ever had to grip before. hmm.
i think i need a saddle with more padded knee rolls.

I get these hunting but think it is my garterstrapswhich spin so the buckle is on the inside? I have to keep grabbing them whils galloping along n spin them out again!
