Hi, This is my first post on here and a bit of an odd one. I've just had a very strange call from a gentleman, saying he was from Horse and Hound magazine. He mentioned the safari competition and then said, I can't tell you if you've won that but I'd like to offer you three copies of the magazine for £1.
Being generally suspicious of any telemarketing, I made up a story about having a subscription. He then offered me Horse magazine, 3 copies for £1, then 5 copies of Country Life. He then snapped 'Are you interested in any magazines?' and when I said No, he basically slammed the phone down!!!
Is this some elaborate scam (there is no way I'm giving out my card details over the phone in that way) or just a very badly judged marketing ploy? Has anyone else had a similar call?

It's not a scam, it's a company IPC use to sell subscriptions (if you google the phone number you'll find the name). If you PM Admin they will have your number taken off the list - I used to get the phonecalls too.
