There was a bloke down here who was found in a dung spreader having a w**k, on further investigations it was found that he had a thing about dung and he had frequented alot of dung piles and left alot of tissues, he was prosecuted!! So, there are some VERY weird people around.
At one yard I used to keep my horses at we had a problem of people defacating in horse's stables. It was definitely human and not canine or equine. It was REALLY disgusting.
Tampons, however, are slightly more dangerous though due to the possibility of the horse eating them and them absorbing the fluid of the digestive system and blocking it up, resulting in colic
Sorry girls, I've seen this before and it was one particular bitch dog raiding the bins and running around with them. They were left all over the yard.
A better bin, dilligence about not leaving the loo door open, and use of nappy bags solved it.
Agree with poster above, could it be a dog or a fox?? Only ask because when I used to garden for a living we frequently found used nappies sort of chewed up (yuck!!) where the foxes had dragged them out of peoples bins.
Eeeww gross. No never had that problem thankfully and never ever heard anyone had that happen to them before either! Does your YO know of the problem? If so does he/she have a plan of what to do about it?
Are yard loos are sometimes left in a rather less than desirable state, by some of the teenage girls from the RS bit. There was also one livery (now gone) who used to change her tena's in her stable (often with the door ajar) and if you were unfortunate to walk past a the time (hers was the 1st stable in the barn), would yell "it's all right I'm just changing my tena, you'll be the same at my age".
Vile but at least in her own stable. She also used to pee in stables, got know why she couldn't walk round to the loo.

If they're left around the yard then I would presume it's a dog too, but in the stables...?!? Depending on what the stable doors are like, it would have to be quite a big dog to manage to get it in...
We had a similar problem on our yard with baby wipes being found in beds. Why? why? why? And also on our yard, the y.o. found a pregnancy test (erm, positive?) in the loo...just left out for all to see. And we often have problems in the toilet where folk leave rather large poos in the bog and unflushed...
I just don't understand how folk can be so mingin.
If its not a dog then are there any younger girls on the yard who might not know any better or haven't been able to talk to parents etc about these things? I know a few primary school teachers and they say when the girls start young often they are too embarrased to talk about it, just take stuff from their mums supplies and then don't dispose of them properly.
thats one of the most disgusting thing ive ever heard of!!!! i wouldnt need to knw who the hell it was id be out of there like a shot!!! thats sick!!!!
QR well its gross and very odd but I wouldnt worry about a horse eating one. unless of course horses are left without alternative forage for hours overnight
I REALLY do not want to believe someone is doing this deliberately as it's just too gross to imagine! I agree that it could be dogs rooting and finding them, then dropping them once they're bored. The smell would be like nectar to a terrier, for example! If there are dogs on the yard, then leave your stable door closed at all times and ask the YO to install a secure sanitary bin.
If it really isn't dogs, then your YO needs to step up to the plate. Call the whole yard together and make a speech about it. Try and shame the culprit who is clearly just getting away with this.
Reading the other posts, I agree it could hopefully be a dog!!
But, I don't know many dogs who could jump over a stable door, so keep it shut all the time if possible! If it continues, please please set up a hidden video camera or something.. it's just completely wrong!! Best of luck! xx
This is SOOOO disgusting - That, and people weeing in stables, and even more gross, defacating in stables. I hope these people had to muck their own boxes out........
I wonder if the female hygiene products are being left in stables as someone has a grudge to bear??? Any particular disputes between people on yard, esp those with the towels/tampons being found in their stable?
I agree that the worst thing about this is horses being endangered by them being these/eating.
I couldn't be doing with that at all. If it doesn't stop shortly I would definitely be leaving.
that is just so wrong, yuck.I have been on a yard with no toilet facilities, and a YO that wouldn't let us use the one in the house, so we did have to wee in the stables, but we only used our own horses stables, and that was because we had no choice!
but your YO really needs to find out who or what is doing this and put a stop to it.
I don't want to scare you but a few years back there were incidents round our way of people getting sexual kicks out of doing things to horses. One riding school lost a well loved horse as a result. There is a chance (especially if this is happening throughout the month and is not targetting the same stable all the time) that it is down to some sick wierdo rather than someone on the yard. If that is the case it needs to be stopped before something nasty happens.
