Got to the yard this morning to find I had been broken into! They had gone through everything, inc some rugs etc (no tack kept there!) and took:

my last bale of bedding
my shavings fork
2 headcollers and 3 lead ropes hanging outside the stables
my grooming bag
3 wormers, one equitape unused, and an equest and eqvalan duo, both of which only had about 100kg worth in each.....

Hay had been gone through too as tarp moved, however they'd struggle to shift two heston bales!

I'm flipping fuming, because its quite clear that this is someone with their own horse judging by what they took :(. Either my rugs were the wrong size for their horse, or they didnt want them as they were postcoded. None of my 'riding' or lunging equip was taken either which is a good thing.

Police forensics team came out this afternoon, couldn't do much really although they took the cardboard box from a tube of sedalin which had been on top of the wormers and quite obviously picked up and moved. Hope they get the b*stards fingerprints.

My lovely local saddlery/feed place gave me 10% on my replacements, they really are the loveliest people in there!

Anyway, watch out if you are in the Sevenoaks area of Kent, nail everything down!

So sorry to hear about this- I'm mad for you  it's totally disgusting that people can do something like that.
It's great that you have such wonderful people working at your tack shop- not sure whether mine would have done that! Hope that everything gets sorted out for you.

Such scum.....what gives them the right to do such a thing...thieving lil s*** I'm sorry for your loss of gear but at least your horse's weren't touched....and you have a lovely saddlery to give you discount, not what you want though is there anything people won't do these days???

Big hugs hun, I take it the wine bottle will be opened tonight?

I doubt I will get anything back to be honest, the only things I am bothered about are the headcollers, grooming bag and fork, but at least they were not too expensive to replace.

Very very glad horses were not touched, and nothing else was taken, have taken most things home tonight until door gets reinforced.

I just think that it must be someone with their own horse/s, as why would you steal a bale of bedding and wormers otherwise? That is the most annoying thought, as if you cant afford your bloody horse then don't have one, rather than stealing from people that work bloody hard to afford their horses!!

We are at Ide Hill, near Sevenoaks. Yes, wine definitely on the agenda tonight, but going to do a spot check on yard soon first (I left my mobile down there!!!!)!

Garrrrr Im Dover end but we are regulary targeted. We once had a load of headcollars taken and then were found dumped in a field !!!!! Like what the F*&k, they were mainly muddy field headcollars as well!

My headcollers were gross.....grooming bag was gross as were contents, I mean, why???

I've heard its happening a lot though, people having hay and bedding stolen.

You poor pet, it's just nasty. Little freckers, it makes me mad, we work hard enough to have what we have, for some little s**t to steal it. I was "robbed" a few weeks ago, but it had to have been someone that knows the run of the place, as the key was used to get into the tack room, and it was only specific stuff taken. they even had the cheek to take a bit that cost €120 and replaced it, on the bridle with a €20 bit. Now, theres only 5 of us that know where the key is, but i dont know who to even begin to accuse!!! Have my suspisions, but how do you prove it. I mean, the lunge whip was taken, but the saddles were left. It def was a case of take what was needed. Like i can just pull the money to replace the stuff, and to think it was probably a "friend".
Hope you get sorted out though, and whoever robbed you to be caught!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I had bags of feed, haylage, headcollar and leadrope and grazing muzzle along with four buckets stolen a couple of weeks ago. They returned last night and took a dustbin full of empty sacks, a grooming kit, headcollar and leadrope, lunge line and shavings fork and wheelbarrow along with a fleece rug and fly sheet. I've just spent the afternoon clearing everything out, but it is going to be hard work carrying everything to the field. :( She still has the rug on her back (for now!) I've had one stolen off a clipped horse before too.

So sorry to hear that. :(

I had a similar experience last year. They took some 'old' stable and NZ rugs which were still in use and i'm sadly missing now, a bridle, chifney, two JW head collars and ropes which i saved up to buy. Two brand new WB combos still in the bag worth £100 and took most of my electric fence posts so my horses were loose in the morning. :(

Even though it was over a year ago, every night i leave the yard worried that they will come back and steal some more of my stuff. I'm so worried for my horses too. I'm just thankful that they were ok. I hate that i have to worry about some t***** breaking in to my stables and stealing my things.

Ah man, so many of us have stuff nicked and it really does stink.

Touchstone, I'm really worried these people will come back for other things too.

I'm going to try and get a shed alarm for the tack room (we don't have electricity) - the people that own the land live over the road and keep such a close eye on the stables its amazing anyone managed to get in unnoticed.

im so so sorry - this happened to me last year just a couple of weeks after id bought my boy and brought him to my new yard.
Thieving scumbags did a huge job and took every single saddle and bridle on the yard - our yard has about 25 ponies and horses - total scum xxx

Hmm, maybe it's wrong of me but i would be inclined to think gypsy types! i mean who else would want dirty headcollars and the other bits they took? They probably thought "hey, we may as well have those wormers!". We've had stuff nicked over the years but we now don't take anything tack wise at the stables and have a large industrial container for the rugs and other bits and bobs. However, that has even been broken in to twice as we kept the generator that powered our lights in there - the last time they took it they cut through two gates to get to the stables and then used an acetiline torch to cut a hole into the container!

Funnily enough since we've got electricity (ie no more generator) we've not (touch wood) had any more attempts to get in!

Ladyt25, totally what I and the land owners thought!

I honestly expected my battery that powers my lights to be gone, they had seen it as they went through the cupboard its in.

Alsxx we had a yard not far from mine broken into the other week ( I'm not too far from you ), all that was taken from there was mucking out tools and a few head collars. I know its not the point as all these things cost money to replace but at least it wasn't more valuable stuff taken.

*touchs wood* my yard has only been broken into twice in the two years we've been here, the first time they took nothing despite having the pick of 10 saddles ( tacks no longer left on site ) and £1000's pounds worth or rugs and other stuff. The second time we could have lost a hell of a lot if it hadn't been for my Yard Manager and her OH, they heard a noise, went out too take a look, they walk in to find 5 men in are stable block helping them selves, soon as they see and heard my Yard Manager ( she screamed at them lol ) they dropped everything in shock and run!

*touchs wood* every yard around us has been done over in the last few months, but are's hasn't been touched!

It's actually I'n a way quite amusing what they take
Not I'n amusing way they have taken you stuff
What Use is it to them
The other day I had an old bent wheelbarrow stolen from my field
No use to anyone part from my self for picking up poo
That was I'n sittingbourne area

Where are you guys? There must be a link, similar stuff taken. They must be doing the rounds at the moment in our area!

I just went down as left my mobile in one of the stables, turned up and almost immediately had torches shining on me from people that own the land :p

So sorry for you, i was cleaned out yaers back and was completely devestated more at the stuff that was irreplaceable rather than rugs that i could replace.
It still feels very personal as it had to be someone who knew me and where my stuff was located

Have PM'd you.

Sorry you too have suffered this, thieves took 14k of equestrian things from us and even took all their rugs off my horses backs, none of it was ever seen again. Postcode everything in gloss paint, I have inc brushes the lot.
Thing was, I was under insured and only got 4k.!!!

We are having the same problem here in surrey :( last week a liveries yard had their car's broken into and house up the same lane got broken into in daylight, my friends neighbour had their house ransacked Thursday at 11am and another neighbours BMW stolen!!! and last night a very big livery yard got emptied. I have brought most of my stuff home now...

Behind every theft there are also people who buy stuff cos its cheap ,no questions asked . They too are scumbags. Dont ever be tempted cos it could be your stuff next.

Mike, you have a point! All the stuff (rugs etc) that gets sold on ebay, how much is genuine?

I've taken most of my remaining stuff home, will take the rest tomo with exception of a couple of bits and bobs like feed and buckets. The ironic thing is, I was already pretty paranoid about leaving stuff at yards, and most of my stuff was already at home!

Yup all rugs postcoded already, seem to be the ONLY person in our area that does this!!!

I'm going to slit open my 2 bales of bedding I bought today so they cant easily be carted off! Currently they are in my car!! I will also be investing in a wireless motion sensored alarm so if anyone does break in the alarm will alert the house.

well last few days thieves ransacked liveery yard near me - runcorn cheshire - all tack cleared out. Broke into everyones boxes etc BUT thankfully they left the horses. Mmmmmm my words "you b**t**ds ppl work hard and go without to have their horse "
