The last time (touch wood) that we were broken into, the only thing taken was a knackered lunging whip. Bizarre!!
Not nearly as strange as the rug that was stolen off my horse's back, washed, compressed under several other rugs leaving indentations, then put back on my horse, complete with the bed duvet they had clearly left behind and was still dry. It was a frosty night, so no other explanation as to why a rug was soaking wet, other than it was marked with our name and postcode and someone was watching out for us that night.
We have since been informed that it passed through someone's hands who said 'you don't steal from them' and it was returned.
Sometimes it pays to do the local travellers a good turn.
