Went out today. Got a little bit wet but it did stop half way round

Normally horse I ride for someone else is steady neddy

Not today. Chap with pickup pulling a small trailer with tie bales of haulage stopped to let me go past. Horse going past normally when all of a sudden he was turning round and trying to go the other way. His bum made a hell if a nois on the pickup 😳😳

Anyhoo insisted guy got out and look and if he found anything offered to pay. Dickhead horse’s fault all day long!

Lucky no damage. Not even a mark. Must’ve sounded worse than it was. Guy was nice in the end. I offered my number in case he needed to get in touch but he was happy to go in his way.

Said horse had lectures all the way home and trotted 90% of it since he obviously had loads of energy!!

What else can happen today I wonder? I’m off to lie down in a darkened room. 🙄🙄🙄

There's something in the air. One of mine jumped the fence and went on a rampage around the farm yesterday while I was trying to bring them in for vaccinations. My field is a fair distance from the yard and with three, it's a bit of a mission at the best of times, but that was entirely unnecessary. There are hoof prints on all the forbidden tracks now!

That was daemon yes?

Agreed with the air 😅

Blimin’ nags!!

Honestly. 🤣🤣🤣

Mine somehow managed to get a gate open yesterday and had a good charge about somewhere they really shouldn’t have been! Luckily still on my property. Even more luckily, the dogs alerted us straight away so my EMS Dartmoor who is still recovering from lami didn’t have time to eat too much grass. They were still at the galloping about stage when found, so no harm done. Except to the ground…

Yup my retired steady neddy has been randomly charging around her paddock for no apparent reason the last week or so bit worried about moving her to winter field this weekend where she will have lots of space to build up speed 😱

Mine has been separated along with 2 of his friends so that they can be wormed & their poo kept separate from those not being wormed.

He thinks this is a stupid idea & apparently went through the fence 3 times to demonstrate this. YO plaited some of his mane up & gave him a little electric rope rug accessory. He has now decided that maybe he’ll stay where he’s put!

He’s not done this for a while but does have a long history of deciding that field boundaries don’t apply to him! (& obviously stupidly thick native manes are an excellent shield from the electric fence!

Oh god, what a relief there was no damage!

My guy is being a complete nob. Been riding him since May, bought him a month ago. He’s rising 5, but generally as good as gold and quite confident out hacking. Spent yesterday dealing with him intensely napping, circling him, trying to stop him running home, getting him past cars which he’s decided to be afraid of (when he hasn’t so much as blinked at all kinds of vehicles in 6 months, including an ambulance with lights and sirens up his arse). It’s usually only when we’re alone that’s he’s started with this, so want to put it down to him being genuinely scared and spooking, but it’s f’ing hard work — it took me half an hour to travel 5 minutes at one point yesterday. Was also quite dangerous for obvious reasons. Any tips?!

I think the low light and the long shadows mess with their heads. My youngster (backed in May) is the same. One sunny day a few wks ago (first hack in a while) I had a hell of a game until I realised she was actually napping and spooking off her own shadow on a woodland track(confirmed by me raising my shadow's arm to "wave" at her as I was saying "Look, it's just our flipping shadows you daft bugger." The "wave" had her shooting sideways in horror. We were hacking out quite happily solo earlier in the year when the sun was high. Everything is different now, and they are not so confident with us on their backs - if I get off and lead she's happy to follow. So I'm tending to lead past the scary stretches and hop back on in the non scary sections.

Of if only rocky had that excuse!!

He’s very nearly 20. Plus it was raining so no sun and there wasn’t even a puddle to pretend there was a shark in (his favourite game 🙄🦈)

No it was dick headedness!!
Am still cross. 😳😂
