Poor Lukey is getting eaten alive. Got to the yard last night and after I'd fed him(you don't mess with him until he's eaten, grumpy sod) I checked him over and his sheath is covered in little pinprick drops of blood

Jelly wasn't so bad(althoughI did get kicked for my troubles when I checked her so wasn't best pleased) but I have a feeling that I'll be splodging sudocrem all over him today and hoping that I don't get squished in the process. After his problems post gelding he's still a little sensitive in that area and he's VERY ticklish.
Suppose I'd better get mixing that witches brew and make up some more fly spray too

Oh the joys of early summer.....

The mosquitoes/midges are really bad already, dam wet/warm weather has given them plenty of breeding site.

My friend sprays her geldings sheath (his swells if he is bitten) with a human mosquito repellent (which contains deet), seems to be the only think that stops him being bitten in this sensitive area.

Luke isn't so keen on sprays, but I take it you can buy this stuff in supermarkets etc? I'll be off to Asda later so may have a little look, poor beggar really wasn't a happy chap last night

Yes definitely available at supermarkets. Hers wasn't keen on sprays either at 1st, but he doesn't mind it now. It used to be quite entertaining to watch her squirt and run!!!

my boy's sheath is covered in those pin prick damn flies too, what are they called does anyone know? his white legs are splattered in blood every visit too and its a nightmare. im mixing the witches brew tomorrow and yes im a squirt and run member!!! i would love anyone telling me what those little flies are called so some research can be done? we have streams at our yard so its not good and his poor willy, think he likes me playing with it (not spraying) as its starting to come out and see me more often YUCK. ps ive employed a friends services to come and clean his sheath, how often do you do this? find someone you dont like and serve the flakes as puff pastry??

The flies are called Little B*stards and are a very real pain in the backside

Rather surprisingly the little fella had no objections to being smeared in sudocrem so I owe him an apology for thinking that he'd be a git to do
