I've got a Black Country Saddles Wexford on trial at the moment, second hand in great nick - the quality seems good.

I jumped in it briefly at the weekend and hacked out today - it seems to really hold you securely and I think I like it!

Just wondering how other people rate them. I'll be using it for lower level SJ / XC and looks like I might hack in it too.

I have just got a wexford too. Like you i feel very secure in it. At the moment i only hack but will do a little jumping in the future.

I tried one a few years ago and loved it, thought it was the most comfortable saddle I had sat in and would happily hack for hours in it.......then I jumped in it.....it went back! The seat was too deep for my liking and I kept catching my ar*e on the cantle which was far from ideal! Make sure you jump a good few fences before you make your mind up :)

An acquaintance of mine has a made-to-measure Black Country dressage saddle . . . I have sat in it (on her horse) a couple of times and it's just divine. Her daughter has a BC jump saddle - not ridden in that, but my trainer (who has) assures me it's fab . . . very well made. When I win the lottery, I'll be having a custom made dressage one made for KaliBear.

Thanks all....Sneedy, I jumped round a 2'8'' course in it at the weekend and it felt ok......I'll see what I make of it for XC this weekend, particularly with my racesafe BP on, which is quite bulky.

I have a feeling that it will be fine for lower level stuff.....I would love to say I'll be jumping what I used to back in the day, but I think the reality is that in the near future the biggest thing I will do is BE 90, so probably suitable for now?

LOVE LOVE LOVE them.

I have one on each horse and hack and jump in them. (BSJA up newcomers and Eventing up to CCI*)

Since I switched to Wexfords (from Stubens) I have NEVER fallen off either at home despite some bucks and cavorts about. And bay horse I fell off once XC when he got trapped on a fence and Chestnut horse .... gosh, can't remember last time I came off. At the weekend he stopped at Burgie and crashed through the fence and was down on his knees etc, and despite both him and I pulling muscles I still stayed in the saddle.

Basically if the horse stops you stop with it as the knee rolls are fab, I feel so safe in mine and if anyone else ever rides my horses they always say how much they love them too.

Brill saddles all my friends have them and jump in them

I have the ricochet which is very similar to that one and I love it and I SJ in it.

Soooooo Comfy and secure

Quick update to say I did some flat work in it today, and still love it - just seems to make my leg very secure, and he was a very happy boy today. Whether it was my riding or the saddle, he FOAMED at the mouth...... he has never produced that much saliva since he had grass sickness, after which he became dry mouthed.

So looks like I need to find a bit of money to buy this saddle for gully and perhaps a solutions tree less for sky...... gulp!

sorry to resurrect but can anyone tell me if there is an option for a square cantle on these and what the difference in the types of tree are?
