This may be a silly question but thought i'd ask just in case.

My black horse has recently had two nasty fly bites on her shoulder which turned into scabs. I was putting sudocrem on daily so that they dried up, and now they are.

Today i noticed the hair is growing back but it's white :( which is what i expected, but it's annoying as she will have two white splodges on her all black body! Anything i can put on to encourage black hair growth? I feel very daft asking this so please tell me i'm being silly if i am! :D

Its like the old taletell signs of saddle sores isn't it! Nothing I can think other other than a vet cutting the damaged skin/follicles away and stitching up.. but of course this is totally drastic and know u wouldn't consider that... boot polish?? lol

Nothing that can be done about it unfortunately :(

There are lots of great 'cover up' products out to use when showing, The Supreme ones are good :)

It's to do with the hair follicles and pigmentation from them being damaged and then lost. It's a bugger, especially when you have to get your hair dyed every four weeks - at least your horse doesn't mind - unlike me!!

Honey is good... My pony reared up and landed on a gate - slashing his chest. Once it had closed up and started healing we put honey on the area and the hair grew back black:-)
