My boy's a similar bright bay and he's in black tack (but that's because I don't really like brown tack). Black does look quite striking on him. Brown is more traditional though.
My bright bay is in black. I think it sets their black points off nicely. Depends what you want to do, brown is correct for showing etc, whereas I would say black for dressage.
Personally I prefer brown but my sisters gelding is a very similar colour to yours and does look nice in black - I think it's down to personal preference really unless you're planning on showing him in which case brown is more correct.
If your going to be showing etc and you want to look 'correct' then I'd go for brown, but what the heck, go for what ever you think will suit your horse be it black, havana, light brown etc.
There's more to it than the colour, getting the right fit, the correct type of nose band to suit your horses head along with the rest of the bridle (only if your horse does not need a specific noseband to help your control etc) and the quality.
I used to use black tack on my grey, purely because brown did not suit him at all and others agreed, I showed him and was never knocked for the colour of his tack, but even if he was....I wouldn't of changed it just because I liked him in black.
I tried black on a chestnut and a strawberry roan in the past and it looked awful, so you don't know unless you try, I'd borrow some friends bridles with various colours and have a fashion show! take some pics and look back and see what you think, then splash out on the best quality you can afford in what ever colour you choose.
Brown leather is reserved for old physics teacher's shoes, nasty handbags and driving gloves.
There's only one thing worse than brown leather tack and that's brown leather tack with brass buckles.......pass me the sick bag
I am grief stricken that I've had to get a brown saddle for daughter's ponio as was unable to find black one to fit her and the pony. I drift in and out of consciousness every time I have to look at it, let alone have to touch it...
