I have just bought my first Horse a very handsome piebald hunter but have bought him without tack. I am now stuck on colour of his tack, I know that traditionalists would say Havana but he has a back face and wondering if he would look nice in black? Also would red be a nice contrasting colour for pads etc. Am open to any suggestions?!??

Black... Definitely I put black leaher head collar on NAS yesterday and he looked gorgeous.. (if you didn't look at his yellow mane and legs lol)

I tried green accessories when I first got him not good, red looks ok.

Now I,m sticking to black silver/grey White.

:)

Black tack. And whatever colour takes your fancy re saddlecloths etc. Red would look good, so would white and just about anything else too.

My little piebald is in black tack, personally think brown would look horrible when next to black face it body. He also wears pink (and he loves it!) so red would look good also :) x

Brown, always brown :) I use it on my piebald and it looks lovely (but he always looks fab to me ;)). I use purple on mine but that's because I love the colour and I also have some lovely ice blue stuff from Shires. The great thing about a piebald is you can use any colour on them as they're neutral lol. I think yellow would look fab!

Wow I think black win out! Thank you everyone! I love the idea of using White as well but think it might just turn into muddy brown by the time I have finished in this weather! Would everyone agree the same for head collar colour?

Definitely black on a piebald if you ask me. Here's a photo of Guinness (Half-Pint, as the other Guinness is about 3 hands taller) all in black tack and he looks great.

I do like a bit of white/pearly trim on a bridle... Totilas is probably the most famous example! (As in the 1st pic of him on Google Images).

ETA: blocked out rider's face. Couldn't find the shape drawing feature, so did it by hitting 'imperfections' so it turned her head into the wall.

I will be honest never been a fan of coloureds up until I met puzzle my newbie :) now I have seen so many beautiful ones, am hooked and I agree that black will look so much better especially as his face is fully black apart from a slight star.

See I have been told for show especially with M&M ponies always brown but Havana brown but would also say black would look lovely but I think the showing world favors the brown
