Just pondering really (bored at work) my filly will eventually be grey/white all over by the time she's 5/6 years old.

What colour tack would be best, ive always been a fan of black tack on grey/white horses, but now as i have a spare saddle/bridle in brown kicking around :(

Opinions anyone, and pictures if you have them of your horses sporting their tack, might help me decide. :o

:D Im preferring black also, my cremello has black tack, just think it looks smart, but my other boy bless his soul, had brown because he just looked good in it  but now he's not with us anymore I thought i might use his tack.............................but the naughty not so practical/logical side of me wants to go ut and spoil her rotton and buy all new shiny BLACK tack including a blingy brownband :D

Elle33 - loving the idea of pink bandages :)

I like black on a grey. However, I had a piebald and couldn't decide, so I went two tone black and havana. I love it!

I have black for BD with my late Novice appy.. And general riding/jumping..

I will have Havana for my CB youngsters as it is the correct colour to show them..

I'm not actually sure that I can think of any colour that imo is complimented better by brown tack than black, maybe liver chestnut? Not even sure about that though. Definitely black on a grey (unless perhaps on a rose grey)? But then, perhaps that is because it is what I am used to seeing. I thought about brown for my bright bay, but just don't think it would look right.

A complete contradiction, but I think brown does have a certain classyness about it, more so than black

I like brown tack on all colours of horse.

Having said that I currently have a chestnut in a brown bridle and black synthetic saddle and a black in a black bridle with a brown leather saddle. It would be nice if they matched but that is the way my tack fits them the best so that is what they have.

:D Smanf i like your way of thinking

Maybe my girl should have one of each :D

It's funny though cos I did find myself thinking the other day "if I had a grey horse, what colour tack would I have" Goodness knows where the thought came from. I may have to go on google images now and educate myslef a bit more on brown tack!

When I was looking at saddles on the internet recently, I was really taken with this Lovatt and Ricketts event saddle (which sadly doesn't look like it is overly available, and even if it was I wouldn't be able to aford it), and I did prefer the brown version to the black.

I do like brown tack, but for some reason its stuck fast in my head that grey horses should have black tack, but i have seen grey horses in brown, and thought now that looks nice, maybe i should do the same.

Dont get me started on saddle types either  i don't even know what type of saddle will suit my girl, but as i prefer jumping would love an event/jumping saddle, but i suppose at the end of the day its whatever suits her best, but i know which saddle your talking about and i like it too, better in brown as well - ahhhh too much confusion for a Thursday afternoon :D

Slightly off topic, but the saddler came my horse today to check that my saddle fits, and took one look at him and said "so do we have a mare here?"

I was like, "No, he's a boy!!!!" hahahaha

Poor Indie, he does look like a girl :o
