Black or brown ????

Depends what you want to do in it, I have brown on my bay, because I plan to show her next year, but she used to have black and that looked nice too.

if you're going out competing, I think black looks really smart...
If you get a brown saddle, you'll then be wanting a brown bridle, brown riding boots, brown brushing boots....the shopping list will never end ;)

I think black is also easier to re-sell if you ever need to.

We have two bays and one is in brown the other black. Brown for the welshie, don't show her often but if I do she needs brown. Black for the heavy, but then again haven't got much to choose with him being so big

Looking for another saddle but black or brown ?. Darcy is bay and both suit her. What colour do people have,or what is traditionally correct.
Historically/traditionally brown was correct for all ridden purposes (and still is for side saddle) but not everyone stands by that these days.

However, personally (and I stress personally) I think brown looks more professional if you are competing. (I steward and write for judges in qualifying classes for major competitions.)

Brown for showing, black for dressage - anything else is just personal pref.

As for boots and saddle matching - sorry that is not true. If you look at any of the top showing people they invariably wear black boots with brown saddles.
