Just looking at new show jackets and velvet hats as mine need updating/replacing (no rush though as I'm still crippled at the moment!)

I have a bay horse and angrey horse, should I go for navy, or black? I've always gone for black before...but am seeing more and more navy around. Tack is all black.

What do you wear, and why?

Navy for showing (or tweed if m&m's, hunters etc).
Mainly because I use the navy jacket for dressage also, but wouldn't opt to show in black jacket (not the "done" thing at county level, always seems to be blue, no idea why). Local level you will get away with black though and probably see others in black.
If tack is black your whip should be black too.

Sorry should have said it would be for dressage and show jumping, for showing I have green tweed.

If you intend to do showing classes, go for the navy. If not, I believe it is personal choice, ragardless of tack colour :)

Is personal choice. I would always go for navy jacket and hat with flesh coloured straps as think it looks a bit more elegant. Also navy hats usually look better with green tweeds.

I just go for navy, looks smarter (imo), more 'correct' for ladies and I think it is an easier colour to carry off - black can look a little harsh. Around here at least navy is def the norm for dressage, at sj it seems that anything goes!!
