Time to splash some cash.....

Im looking for new (to me) saddle and new riding boots.....

The saddle im after rarly comes up second hand in brown, and got my eyes on some lovely new brown boots.

Ive seen a couple of good condition saddles but black.

Do I hold out for a brown saddle (that might take ages and def not going to buy new)

Or go with the black saddle and brown boots ? - All my riding clothes are mainly brown.

Ive seen a lot of pics with brown saddles and black boots, but not the other way around

Am I making life difficult for myself ?

I love black tack and have brown riding boots - I personally don't mind it but these are Toggi Calgary ones so more like a cross between riding boots and country boots. They're brown but suede style and so wouldn't match many brown saddles anyway! Thats the problem I have with brown - there are so many different shades!

I wear mine around the yard and hacking etc - but have a black pair that I prefer to compete in. So if you're wanting to compete in them it might be nicer to have matchy matchy, but I don't see why not :)

I have never even thought of matching my boots to the saddle, all my saddles are brown and all my riding boots are black, I don't think it really matters whatever colour your boots are in relation to your saddle.

This. Although my next pair of Toggi Calgary boots are brown as I bought them in the sale and they didn't have black. My current pair haven't quite died yet hence them being my 'next' pair. I only wear them for everyday riding I have my posh Mountain Horse ones for competing / lessons.

The colour of your boots is determined by what you are doing and the correct turnout. Ratcatcher turnout is brown boots for instance. Black or navy jacket and black boots.

I have black tack and brown boots :) I did have a brown dressage saddle but gave up trying to find another one to fit!

(I do now have black too but still prefer my brown :o )

What are you doing with the horse will determine how much it matters. Also how much you are spending on the saddle. I've just bought a £200 saddle and it's a sort of faded black colour. I hate black tack but it's for a difficult to fit horse and I wanted a cheap saddle in this particular make and model to see if she approves of it. I'll just be riding in it with brown boots! One thing is for sure my feet won't change shape but the horse might so I'd get the boots you want and aim for the saddle colour if you can!
