Hi
Any ideas. Black rubber school, white legged horse = black legs about 4 times a week. I’m not a believer in washing legs too often with some sort of detergent and water does no good. I’ve tried pig oil with no luck. Is my only option to bandage? I keep reading stuff that says it’s not a good thing to do just for exercise?
Any other thoughts / experiences?

Its a nightmare. I used to use a friends school, and the cob had grey legs all the time. It was almost impossible to get off too. Had to resort to chalk when competing.

I never found an answer either - 3 coloureds, 2 greys and an Appie (not all that the same time!)

I don't think there is an answer. Personally I just lived with it and washed only when needed or for competition. I didn't find bandages terribly effective as the rubber particles make their way up the hair inside them. Balanced against the potential damage from unnecessary bandaging the cosmetic result wasn't worth it for me.

we had black rubber on black sand and white socks, I just ignored it unless we were going anywhere when he would need a sock wash regardless (back legs). But I would plan not to be in there a couple of days before going anywhere, especially if wet.

Dunno if its been tried, but would an old pair of socks with the toe cut out work? maybe held in place with a tendon boot?

I had the same problem, I’d do my last school before a show two days before, then hack and wash legs once the night before with fairy liquid then do a double rinse with blue shampoo the morning of. Always came out dazzling.

I wash my pony's legs after using a rubber surface school but i do know lots in the showing world clip white socks and then just give the legs a brush over after
