black sundflower seeds

Oooo lets hope they make my blue and white look more blue this summer!!!

I buy mine from the big feed merchants. I get a 20kg sack for just over £8 and they last me over 3 months for four horses.

Nope, not tried that!

Patches doesn't have dapples but as she's aged her blue patches are less apparent. She's been on the sunflower seeds for about 6 weeks consistently now. I was a bit hit and miss with them before that time.

Not being overtly blonde here..but what section of the big feed merchants! I have several around me but are they in the horse section/bird section?? Just so when I ask I dont sound like a pleb...."bird seed for horses please"
It appears the seaweed keeps the pigment?or deepens it somwhow..the dapples on my bay were lush!

started jay on them last week,i got some from a health shop 1st to make sure he ate them as he is a fussy git.

going to call pets at home tomorrow to see if they have them

They are in the Bird Section!!!! You don't have to announce they are for your horse!!!!! They are the smaller sunflower seeds with black shells. Most places sell them loose as well as 20kg sacks, so you could buy a smaller amount to try (although this is dearer than buying a sack).

I shop at Youngs Animal Feeds in Congleton (incase anyone is familiar with them). At Youngs you go in and order and pay at the shop and then drive through the sheds while they load your car! Simple!

I just stand at the till and ask for a sack of sunflower seeds.

£8 a sack in Jollyes pet stores, in the bird food section, not wild bird section. They are almost twice this price at Pets at Home, but local feed merchants will sell them at £8 or less per 20kg bag.

Quite a few showing people swear by seaweed, but be careful how you use it as it has a high iodine content which has been proven to cause heart failure (in both horses and humans) particularly those who already have weaknesses in that area.

Now I'm being blonde (but it ok cos its natural

)
Can I ask how you feed it and in what sort of quantity. I mean do you feed the Sunflower Hearts (just the inside bit) or the all black ones?
Sorry, but I've just not heard of this before
