Sorry, I know sunflower seeds were done to death a little while ago, but I've had a look back but cant find the posts!
The vet recommended feeding oil to help my laminitic to put some weight on, and oil is just calories without the carbohydrate that he doesnt need, but my normally totally unfussy hoss threw a wobbly and refused to eat his tea with the linseed oil in!!

I thought sunflower seeds might be more acceptable to my suddenly fussy ned, so can anyone help? Is a mug a day, or mug per feed acceptable and do they need to be soaked and for how long?
Thankies!

Just make sure they are the black ones. You can feed the stripped, but they are not as high in oil and tougher. Easily found in the bird food section. Get a kilo bag to make sure you horse is ok with them and then buy the 15 k sacks - far cheaper.

Mine love crunching them up, as do the ducks next door - they stand make a huge racket until they get chucked a few.

All you have to watch out for is them tweeting instead of neighing and sunflowers in the muck heap
