i don't soak them and haven't found any in the poos yet! i'm sure mine are digesting them fine.
i feed a mugful per horse, two times a day, to those with bad feet, and 1/2 a mug 2x daily for the others. very palatable, have had no probs feeding them at all.
I feed about 1/4 pint per day. If a blue tit can peck open the shells, I can't see a reason a horse would struggle! Mine love them!
They make my chickens eggs taste peppery too, if I give them some as a treat!
my horses dont peck open the shell LOL,in fact they seem to just gulp it down rather than chew them so they go down whole into the gut lol.(judging by the number of whole seeds that came out when i started feeding them unsoaked)

Hi Tabatha - no. Touch wood no more episodes of choke since last February. I've changed my management of him, which seems to have done the trick.
