Black teeth?

No answer but hoping out of curiosity someone will!
I bought my horse of a dodgy dealer four years ago. He turned out to have a flase passport and was about five years older than i thought. Ive no real beef now as it all turned out ok ...he turned out to be just right for me in the end.
However one of the things I noticed when looking at him was that he had black teeth. I think this was in some way related to the unique business practices of this now infamous dealer!
Hope we get an answer!
 
One of our horses has black teeth sometimes too. I always suspected it was the tannin from eating acorns. That doesn't explain why it's only one horse though ?
 
My friends horse has one black tooth. It's one of her middle lower teeth. I also hope someone has an answer for this as we've always wondered why she has this.
 
If it is black/dark grey and not just brownish, then the tooth is dead. Often caused by some sort of trauma, resulting in the blood/nerve supply being damaged. They usually stay as they are throughout life without any problems but can sometimes fall out, as happened with one of my ponies.
 
Mine gets very dark brown teeth occasionally, I think its down to stripping bark off trees in the winter.Doesn't usually last long, they go back normal slowly.
 
I had a friend (human not horse) who had a dark coloured tooth, she was told it was a weird form of birth mark, it was perfectly healthy???
