I know one cancelled last year for the same reason but I cant remember who it was. Seems a shame given the rough start the season got off to weather wise.
It wasn't a good event last year badly affected by rain and SJing and XC courses rode badly in the conditions which I think put a lot of people off. Shame as another one in the SW bites the dust. Lets hope they try again next year.
I've never been, but from talking to people it hasn't got the best reputation. I guess people except a certain standard at an event and if it isn't provided won't enter.

I was, I don't think Lec was and I think MdeM had seen sense with Osberton the same w/e.

hahaha.. no, where's the fun in seeing sense.. i was entered for Blackdown Hills too.
and although this'll make life alot easier, i'm still dissapointed!!!!

what a strange thing to say?!?! glad you didn't enter, cos it was cancelled due to lack of entries.. maybe if you had entered it might not of been cancelled..

what a shame.. agreed it doesn't have the best reputation but so much goes into the organization etc etc... maybe they were looking for a major improvement this season, get some good reviews for next season.
I know it got terrible reviews last year but it had the weather up against it - I didn't go, so can't really comment.
But the year before and the RC one I did last year were superb. I'm disappointed local people don't support it as it is a new event and I am sure they wish to improve every year.
I would have entered but don't have a suitable horse at the moment.
There's always things that are improved on - look at Pontispool it has gone from strength to strength in the last few years but it wouldn't have been the best to start out with.
What a shame

Can't really comment, as never been to Blackdown Hills for the BE event.. but i did go to the first ever Pontispool BE event, and felt they made alot of effort!!
I was trying to decide between blackdown hills and stockland lovell and then after a lot of thought, i didnt enter either. So, its not like i took my entry elsewhere, just that i decided not to compete at the beginning of May. I didnt mean it to sound like that, just that if i had been entered i would have been disapointed if it didnt run.

Thanks for posting this, we had entered but we have now rung Bovington and provided the entry goes right away they will accept it.
Anyone else going there? Any tips re travelling/ directions etc from Exeter etc, it's an awfully long way for us especially if we get an early dressage.. Can't really stable Chocx that easily either so it may be a 4 am start..
We didn't find BH that bad to be honest, a bit twisty and ground quite hard but as it was their first year we assumed it would carry on improving.
Shame if we lose it altogether ..
We are not too far from Bovington (Salisbury) and I'm sure you'd be welcome to have a stable- we're got two a bit separate from the rest where they settle really well so thats an option if you got v early times!
Fellow livery was hoping for Bovington too but could only go if she did 'day before' dressage and thers no overnight stabling available. Just a bit too far to drive back and forth for 2 days.
Ooo thanks, will see what they come up with..I'm hoping for a dressage around mid -day which would mean a drive home partly in daylight too!
Events are so thin on the ground in the SW we try to get a couple in a month if possible..
