Is anyone here a member of this RC?

Am considering joining a RC and get back into doing lessons etc but not sure whether to just do private lessons or join a RC.

I did PC many moons ago and although I did enjoy it to a degree I always felt looked down on by some of the other members (perhaps because I never had the best ponies / riding kit etc). Therefore a bit aprehensive of joining an adult club :o

I also don't want to be laughed out of the arena when I rock up on a 13.2 Exmoor (I'm nearly 5ft8 and most of that is in my legs so needless to say I look fairly tall on the little chap :rolleyes:).

Just wanted to know what this club was like (friendly etc).

I'll be interested to see the replies to this, as I have also been looking at joining Blackdown Mendip, and am also a tall person riding a pony.
 
I've just rejoined them after a 3 year break. If you're considering it, do it. Its not much to join, but they're so popular, that they have a "window" when they accept new members and if you miss it, its a long wait!!

Riding club is there to help, encourage and develop riders and horses, so no one should be made to feel inadequate.
 
Hi I am a member! I joined last year and have just renewed my membership. It is a popular RC and has a high number of members covering quite a wide area. I have been to quite a few of the events and they have been fun, not snooty at all. The lessons are suitable for all types of riders with a good mix of instructors. I stewarded in one of the showing rings at the annual show last summer, it was a good way to meet lots of members. I would say go for it, its not expensive and for what's on offer I think its definitely worth joining.

I'm going to watch the dressage this weekend at Stretchholt, see if it inspires me to get moving again :)
 
I'm not a member (not in to RC atm!) but know a fair few and they are all very nice! :D

wandamare you can keep an eye on my mum then as stretcholt is v close to us .. she'll be the one on the palo!

Really nice to hear positive things about this club. Other positive responses from the post in CR too.

Feel quite silly, getting excited about going back to pony club at the age of 36 :D
 
I am a menber and this is a fab riding club.

Ive never known it bitchy or people be looked down on.
Everyone is friendly and welcoming.

They have a very wide range or lessons and clinics with great instuctors and rider.
