Anyone any experience with this type of wound. Thorn was in the top of horses leg. sound in a straight line but lame on tight circle. Has had antibiotics etc to stop any infections. Just wondering on possible healing times as have had a wide variety of estimates!

Depends if any of it got left in and if there's any infection still festering.................Bloody Blackthorns are so horribly poisonous.

Haven't actually had a horse with one myself, but they do seem to be getting more and more common around here! A horse I sold a few years ago got one a couple of months after I sold him. It took a long time for him to come sound, around 6 months I think, then he was intermittently lame on it after that. Another friend's horse had one and that took approx 6 months to heal. My uncle's horse had one last Christmas and was only out for 2-3 months. I think if you catch it early and it straightforward you can be lucky.
