Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knew the closest place to camp near Blair Atholl? The campsite on the estate is already booked up for the weekend. Ideally it would be somewhere close enough to walk but I could take the bike if I had too : ) I like a shower and a toilet block so don't really want to just pitch up anywhere : ) Thanks!

can't help but am jealous of you, went there when I was alot younger me and my sister went hacking from the castle it was brilliant.

not been up there in years and years...

hope you manage to find somewhere though and enjoy it.

Thanks MerlyWerly! It is a lovely place but even lovelier when the horse trials are on!! You and your sister should come back to reminisce! It's on the weekend of the 20th August : )

fiskally caravan park is nearby x good luck, we always stay in the same hotel each year and throughout the year too (wknds away lol) the prices are getting ridiculous nowadays x

Not much help but I do know there is a campsite just to the south on the A9 that has really nice facilities. Friend who doesnt do camping stayed there a few years back and survived

Thanks everyone! They are all full...as are all the bed and breakfasts and hotels! Looks like i'll be getting the train back to Edinburgh as I WILL be drinking : )

wish I could remember the bothy we stayed in was just over a tiny foot bridge into the village below was such a beautiful place.

My dad was brought up in Blair Gary

hate to be the bearer of bad news... but you'll be lucky to find a space anywhere now! blair fills up Very quickly!

Why don't you camp at the event campsite? It is even closer to the event than the caravan park and full of people who like horse! It is just a temporary campsite but there will be showers, loos and sinks for dishes. Also you let you take your lorry which lots of the other campsite don't let you. I think there is more information on the horse trials website.

FigJam and Nic who usually lurk on CR camp at the event camp site - I'm sure they only booked last week, and don't remember it being full last year. It is also the site of the infamous HHO Blair BBQ and Blether - whatever you do don't accept something called 'Ginger Tams' if you come along to say hi!

Am doing my entries tonight I reckon, I camp in the lorry park but think for the peace and quiet element I'd quite like to be in the other campsite across the road lol!

Great!! I'll have a look into that! The Blair Atholl campsite was full but I didn't know about another campsite on the estate. I'll check it out now : )

I stayed on the actual estate campsite 2 years ago. It won't be booked up yet, I doubt. It had showers and toilets and was a good laugh x
