Hard to believe there are only 14 horses entered so far and they have been open for 4 days. I'm sure by this time there are normally loads. Do you think people are just waiting till last min (despite BE's pleas) or have 2 years of mud put people off??:eek:

Any thoughts?:confused::confused:

I am not sure that many people enter in the first few days certainly if Barbury is anything to go by at least 70% of the entries seemed to come in the last week. I rarely enter much before the ballot date.

A shame if mud puts people off, I thought eventers were meant to be a hardy bunch (dunno how to add a smiley, but if I did, there'd be one here!) No-one can help the weather after all, and let's face it if Blair managed to run in last year's hideous conditions then at least riders can be sure they'll bust a gut to give them a run I suppose.

FigJam - Can't see Matthew Wright entered, but read in a Horse and Hound report from ? that he was taking Park Pilot and the one that won Blair 2* last year back. Must be a mudlark!

Hopefully entries will start flooding in soon. Be a right shame if people stopped coming as its a fantastic event.

We can't afford to compete (CCI* is so expensive!) but will be staying Sat night and watching Sunday. Really hoping for no rain this year, especially as we'll be turning up on motorbikes so dont fancy parking in a muddy field!

Motorbikes, you're brave! I'm planning to go all 4 days, really looking fwd to it. Who else is going? Anyone helping?

Our BS entries and stabling are away but I'm only taking one horse so that if the jumping is still running but the ground is bad I will "only" lose the stabling and entries for one horse.

Here's a question - can anyone remember if the BS (BSJA) Grand Prix class on the Sat afternoon in the main ring has had a full water jump in it? If so will need to find one practice :(

They will all come flooding in, in the last few days- do not envy the job of sorting through those entries!!

Different event, but still on the same subject as entries-
Have just noticed, Miners Frolic is entered for Burghley and just wondered why as surely he wont be running there, with it being so close to W.E.G. ?

Measles, pretty sure there won't be a full water in it - could be wrong but don't ever remember them having it in before? They don't like us SJers as it is without having to get another judge in lol!

Pretty much made up my mind that I won't be going this year. Baby boy just won't be ready for the big party atmosphere, don't want to blow his teeny tiny little brain so just resigned myself to staying at home and sulking - can't go to spectate cos will only end up even more grumpy! There's always next year...

It is a shame if mud puts people off, but frankly 5 days of trying to keep horses/dogs/self clean in knee deep mud and torrential rain whilst staying in a tent when I did it in 2008 was enough to take the shine off the experience for me. I can take a bit of mud with the rest of them but having to don full wet weather gear to schlep across quarter of a mile of mud just to go for an early am. wee, then repeat in reverse, then remove all mud encrusted gear and somehow get back into sleeping bag without transferring half the mud into the interior of the tent makes it into a bit of a trial. Most of us don't get holidays and a 3DE IS our holiday. I want to enjoy it!

MagicMelon - my husband came up that year on his R1 (which you will know is probably the least mud-capable bike on the face of the planet!). The security guards let him park it up next to their hut on a concrete base and under a barn roof. It had better accommodation than the humans and horses!
