BLAIR THREAD: who's going? Who's competing?

we are going - only competing Thursday, ridden and wh, and Friday morning in the style jumping BUT we are taking the soured show jumper I posted about earlier this year! It is amazing that he has come on so far and we are delighted to be going! No great expectations - looking forward to riding him round the estate and hopefully, he'll enjoy it too! Not so sure about three nights in the lorry, it is definitely NOT a top of the range, state of the art one and the leisure batteries do not appear to be holding a charge!

I'll be there spectating Friday to Sunday. Friday I'm on my own so doing the course walk, watching sone dressage, doing some shopping. Saturday/Sunday there's a whole crowd of us.

I'll wear my JennBags t-shirt so if you spot me come and say hello :)

Bh2 I'm going to try to find you but will give you a huge cheer xc on Saturday anyway!

Son headed up yesterday, he is working in the event stables and will be there until Sunday so eventing competitors may spot him and his JRT who will probably be barking from the lorry! OH and I head up tomorrow, staying in the Atholl Arms. I told OH he could decide what we did on Wednesday before the event starts - the lovely man has booked me in for a spa treatment at Fonab Castle, the up market hotel in Pitlochry! Thursday onwards we'll be at the event so if you see a woman on crutches or a blue mobility scooter accompanied by a long suffering OH and two terriers that'll be us!

Eh, 'upmarket' is a bit of an understatement!!! lucky you!!!

I'm going, first time in years in not camping. I'm definitely going up on the Sunday, I'm grooming in the veteran horse classes.

Not sure what other days I'll be going up, possibly Friday to give a friend a hand in the BS classes and hopefully Saturday to watch the XC.

Saturday to spectate - daughter wanted to respond to the call for volunteers - free camping etc but shes just under the age limit and I am not camping I want the upmarket solid walls round me type of accommodation! She can go next year with her pals and so I am placating her with shopping and spectating and cheering on the friends we have competing and meeting up others in the bar! Please be dry weather!

I am going on sunday to spectate. Good luck to those competing I am hoping to see some friends we know showing their horses.

Arctic Fox I would think.

I'm up at Blair and the weather's been glorious today - fingers crossed it continues.

Yup! Glad to hear it is glorious - been lovely down in the Borders today so I am hoping Blair is not going to be a mudbath this year.

She will be going round on a bay rather than the grey you are thinking of this time FfionWinnie but you cannot miss the XC orange and navy colours - you can spot her colour theme across the three phases although more subtle for the dressage and SJ.

Ah of course I remember the orange colour scheme now :)

Is it odd that I am more excited to go because of the shopping? I mean we don't have specific tickets for the grandstand so don't think we can go and watch the professionals show jumping but we can watch the other shows and the jumping on sunday. But i really just want to go shopping for a nice black leather headcollar possibly a new bridle and a winter coat for me. Of course anything else that catches my eye too but I am not overly bothered if I don't get to watch the showjumping. Think I am odd.

It's the shopping I'm going for. I like riding my own horse. Spectating not so much. I would have liked to have seen WFP and some others but my travelling companion has stuffed that up.

Hey folks, did you have a good time at Blair?

I'm on cloud 9 just now, having had an absolute blast. What an experience it was, mr Bear was truly awesome on the XC and flew round inside the time. what a thrill to ride round the hills of Blair, wonderful location, wonderful people and wonderful weather.
:D :D :D

Pics on my FB page, can't upload on here for some reason. xx :D :D

Well done Arctic.

I didn't overly enjoy it as was unwell on the day but refused to miss it. Still got my headcollar but nothing else. Ended up going home early.

One year I will get to Blair where it won't be raining and i will be healthy.

Well done! I saw your dressage test. Blair has such a lovely atmosphere - it really is very special. The good weather made this year even better. I had a fantastic time spectating and shopping - OH was incredibly generous at the jewellers and my purse somehow managed to fly open at several other stands so I found myself in possession of rather a lot of things. I did see JennBags, or at least a lady wearing a t-shirt with that name emblazoned across it but unfortunately I was on my phone so couldn't accost her to say hello.

that does sound like a productive Blair! Our dressage is never going to win prizes but Mr Bear makes me laugh while we ride through it! I also love wearing my tailcoat :D :D

You looked very smart, the tailcoat adds to making Blair feel *special*. From what my son has said things ran fairly smoothly - he and his dog returned home exhausted!
