Hi guys
we are heading to Blair castle this year for the first time :-)
and i am starting to have the What if`s !
So one of the things playing on my mind is temporary stabling and bad weather you know the usual wind&rain in Scotland!
please tell me everything will be fine and i am being daft to even think about roofs blowing away.

It will be fine, I've never known of a problem there. We've stabled there when competing and the years we're not my son has worked in the event stable management team so we've experienced many years there. Temporary stables are used in all sorts of conditions, occasionally you get some drips from the roof but we tended just to take a turnout rug to pop on if necessary.

you going for BE or BS or showing?

stabling usually absolutely fine. the are pretty used to the weather.

take some empty plastic bags (or use the empty shavings bags) and string or stapler so you can fasten the bags up in case of bad weather and prevent the stable from being flooded. some riders also take rubber matting for the front of the box but I don't have enough room to add that in.

We are at Blair this year, was there in 2014 and had no issue with stabling apart from they were slightly smaller than usual I thought. Hopefully see you there :-)

I took my old man for Veterans in 2010 and 2011, 2010 it was torrential but he was ok in the temporary stables, wouldn't settle as the partying kept him up which in turn kept me up! They are a little snug for anything big, he is 16.3 but he managed to lie flat out in S$%t not long before his class so he clearly was comfortable enough!
