Well, another very early start for me and Blaze, plus 2 very sleepy grooms (usually have none - today I was spoilt LOL)

Got there in plenty of time and walked the XC which I thought was very spooky! Fence 3 was a drop to a skinnish fence which had plastic frogs that made noises and a man in a sack fishing next to it

Other than that it was fairly decent and up to height but not overly technical, although there was the owl hole which Blaze has never done, and a corner with a stuffed Pooh Bear on the middle!

Warmed up for the dressage and he was a bit naughty for a change, but still very cute, went in and he did a really sweet test, hugely better than Burnham Market I thought. Ended up with 37 so not too bad, but thought that they marked him quite harshly, the rest of the section seemed similar though.

Onto the showjumping....think I should just give up now

FMC was there to shout at me which was MUCH needed, and dont think I would have gone in if she wasnt there! I just rode like an idiot in the warm up and after a horrible day on friday and a complete loss of confidence in my riding ability, I think it all just got too much

Managed a few decent jumps and went in, was fine until fence 7 (the double) where I just completly missed and poor old pony had to get me out of trouble, then rode like an idiot again over the last two as my confidence in myself was shot

Blaze however is worth his weight in gold as he somehow managed to ignore my riding and get his little legs out of the way for a clear round!

I then didnt want to go XC (what is wrong with me?!

) but again a few sharp words soon sorted me out

and off we went.

Warmed up like a star and suddenly I could ride again! Felt lovely and set of for no. 1 which he popped sweetly, no. 2 was a nice pile of logs which he got in very close to and did a bit of a babyish jump over but still went. Then he was off! Flew down the drop and over the evil frog fence without a second glance, then over no.4

Noce long gallop stretch to no.5 then a double on an turn for no. 6, followed by another long gallop stretch to a hedge. Then into the water and up over a bank to a skinny log which he pinged!

Another long gallop to a skinny followed by a dencent hedge with a ditch which I tapped him for just in case but was no need. Onto the trakener which he flew, then a brush fence and then the dreaded Poohs corner which I showjumped just in case but he was super. Then over the lions leap and through the woods to the owl hole which he wasnt bothered about at all. Down a decent drop to a skinny log and over the tyres at the end to finish clear with no time faults.

Came 10th so had his first placing, which he deserved but I certainly didnt

Will upload photos tomorrow as too tired now Im afraid. thanks for reading and thanks so much to FMC for coming and sorting me out

That’s a fantastic report, you don’t give yourself enough credit! That horse is what you have made him! You are a brilliant rider and you won’t convince me otherwise! Look forward to seeing the photos!
grin.gif

Sounds a really good day, I missed why you were feeling a lack of confidence but it seems you BOTH did a good job! Be nice to yourself (hugs) and well done!

Bl00dy Hell E, can I hit you over the head now please?

What a fantastic result and BTW, your riding cannot have been that bad because I can't believe that your baby horse would have helped you out THAT much, SO THERE, lecture over

I am sure you both look amazing and you have a wicked little man

WELL DONE

Oh E I hate those days when you don't want to go XC. Still you have such an awesome horse, just put it down to your sh8*t week
frown.gif

Still, a good placing, what a star! Don't be too harsh on yourself (ha says me!) Well done
smile.gif

Don't be hard on yourself El, it sounds like Blaze (who YOU have produced!) has learnt his job and is gaining enough confidence to sort himself out when you're not feeling on top form. Am sure you still rode 1,000,000 times better than I ever could, and the fact you got a double clear speaks volumes

FMC said Blaze was great - can't wait to see pics.

When is the next outing? I want to come watch!!

Oh rubbish, I would loved to have come to that - Nurstead is lovely and wouldn't have taken me long to get there.....but have agreed to go to Bury Farm to support FMC and watch boring dressage (

With any luck her times will be uber early and yours will be uber late and I can negotiate the (bank holiday) M25 in between
wink.gif

Well done!
grin.gif

The showjumping was very influencial (on the Saturday, haven't looked at Sundays results so may not have been) so a clear round is brilliant, plus it sounds like he stormed round the xc
grin.gif
So you should be really pleased, and at least Blaze is helping you out rather than having to rely on you
laugh.gif

Does this I can have him now?
wink.gif
*hits Ellie* I may not event myself but YOU have made Blaze what he is, and if you can do that whilst you thnk you should be sacked, there's no hope for the rest of us! Everyone has bad days (bet the pros do too) and you both came home safe and sound which is the most important thing!

Chin up and best of luck for the next one
