Just had the out of hours vet out!
Got up the field tonight and I wasn't even going to go and check them over fully, just check they were visable and on all 4 legs and leave cuz it was p*ssing it down, good job I didnt....
Walked across the field, gave them all a polo and noticed Kenellens knee was the size of a football! First thoughts were broken or fractured bone but he could weight bear/walk on it thank god. Managed to bribe him to walk down to the gate with me so I could grab his headcollar! He was nodding his head but not in a lot of pain as he did a few bursts of trot in order to have more polos!
During the day he has managed to cut the inside of his knee tear-arsing around (probably cuz of the thunder) with his other hoof (it doesnt look like a kick from another horse).
Phoned the vet, the vet prodded around to see how deep it was, luckily it didnt need any stitches. So he gave him a shot of antibiotics and left me with enough for 5 days!
He has also managed to bugger his 'check' ligament on the opposite leg, the vet said he is more lame from this than the football knee!
(He is no longer rideable anyway due to an old suspensory ligament injury on that leg, I'm just glad it wasnt the 3 year old
)
So anyway, the plan is to give him antibiotics morning and night for the next week, and keep an eye on it/hibiscrub around it if it gets fluidy) Long term I hope the lameness goes. Fingers crossed!
Anyone got any idea on how much the call out will be?? (Usually it's £25, but it was past 6pm)
