Hiya
Just wondering if this has ever happened to your horse and what caused it and should I be worried.
Lunged pony tonight in a normal lunge cavesson (no bit) tonight. Working him well but not very hard when I noticed blood round his mouth. Stopped immediately and wiped it off but could not see where it had come from. Maybe thinking he could have bit the inside of his mouth or something? He had been eating the blackthorn hedge just before lunging so could he have caught it in his mouth? I had a good look and couldn't find anything though he was not that co-operative but that could have just been him being a bugger rather than hurting somewhere.
No more blood appeared and he wasn't bothered at all by it. Blood was definitely in his mouth rather than down his nose - it had gathered round his lips like saliva and it was bright red.
As I said, whatever was bleeding had stopped and he wasn't bothered by it. I am trying not to be a paranoid mother but we are on our own now instead of on a yard and I don't want to miss anything serious...
Please tell me to stop worrying and chill out
