With Burghley cancelled and Bleinham currently looks like going ahead has anyone been to Bleinham horse trials particularly staying on their campsite How does it compare to Burghley
Is there much going on ,what is the shopping like? Do they have stuff going on in the evenings like at Pog Roger's at Burghley.Anyone?

I haven't stayed there but I did go a couple of years ago. It is nowhere near the scale of Burghley or Blenheim in terms of shopping but there are quite a few retailers there. It is quite a compact site though and not as busy as the other two trials which makes spectating easier and less stressful.

As the management team has changed (will be run by the Jockey Club for the first time this year) I would not like to predict if there would be night time entertainment - there has been in the past. The campsite if it is going to be in the same place as the last few years is within walking distance of Woodstock which has lots of pubs, eateries etc etc. It is a compact site but there is a buggy shuttle service around the site (well there used to be). There is varied retail think quarter/third size of Badminton not been to Burghley so cannot compare. If the same campsite is used it is not the largest as they do not have the same amount of room available as Badminton. The current website is not up to date as the Jockey Club is apparently setting up a new one. I know the venue well as I volunteer there.

Not the extensive shopping area that is Badminton or Burghley, though all the usual equine retailers and the odd local, but not the jaw dropping exclusive stands that we love to browse. Not forgetting Gypsy Rose who will tell your fortune.

I went a couple of years ago (free ticket from someone, thanks) and I did enjoy it. As well as the cross country course there are extra rings, the day I went it was a Riding Club jumping competition which was fun to watch and the young horse class was doing their dressage.

Ive been with mum and really liked it but then it’s relatively local (just over an hour) so we didn’t camp. We also had been to badminton, olympia, Windsor etc so weren’t relying on it having great shopping (which it doesn’t compared to the likes of badminton, Burghley or olympia!).

But it’s a lovely setting, quite compact, parking and the queue to get in so much quicker and easier than the big events.

Overall I really like it but might be disappointed/not think it worth it if I had to travel a long distance.
