Just wondered what your views were on this?

Having just watched it on horse & country tv, was anybody there?

Just wonder whether Ensign was happy round that course, I mean Pippa had to ride the hell out of him to get him round and his ears were not pricked at all and he had a bad stifle bang at the bounce. I mean the horse has gone well since so obviously hasnt done any harm. But what are your views?

I believe she did say she over rode him round there as he was a bit of a unknown quantity at the time and had been a little untrustworth in the run up.
I also think she said she was surprised at how well he did which gave her more confidence and the pair improved from there.
So although poss not the nicest round, in the end they both benefited from it.

But that is all from memory, I know it debated loads at the time.

Completely agree.
It was a scrappy round, but affective!

Not a huge funnell fan, but the horse isnt that easy or bold, and she did what she had to do, which worked.
Their rounds are far more tidy now.

Apparently Ensign has rather a nasty stop on him which has proved a prob in the past so Pippa said that she had to ride even more than usual cos it was the biggest/hardest thing he'd done.

He was 10, so it says on the vid!

Dont spose it matters what you look like as long as you get round!

But was just wondering what peoples views were on whether he was happy or not as didnt once really prick his ears! He looked quite worried bless him.

But your right they have gone on to do well so obviously both gone on well from it

I guess if he didn't enjoy it the anchors would have come on along time ago. Horses have to want to do it at that level.
I know some one who had a fantastic advanced event mare but went round the XC with her ears flat back! She was so eager it was just the way she was.

Yep, I seem to remember it not being too pretty, but I think like you say it was because he was an unknown quantity at that level. He has blossomed into a bloody good horse now though.
I dont think he was 10, as PF and her mum bought from the racing to retrain!
