Rant first.....
HOW is it possible, in 2009, after so many campaigns by so many charities, that ANYONE can not know that dogs die in hot cars???????

Do they hear 'dogs die in hot cars - except for yours Mr and Mrs Spiv. Your dogs love being cooked alive in small metal box'

There were two announcements at Blenheim that I heard about distressed dogs in cars, how could anyone be so stupid on such a hot sunny day as today?

Can't believe that about the dogs in cars...spivs.
I wish someone had taken a photo of the dog which died at a show when I was a kid so I could stick it up at events like this.
I know that sounds horrible, but at least it would shock people and show exactly what happens, they don't slip peacefully away, they cook to death and rip all their claws out trying to escape

Yep there was a tannoy announcement for some ar*ehole of a BMW owner who had left their dog in their car when we were sat in the shade, relaxing with the dogs and having lunch
mad.gif

In unison my friend and I shouted at the tannoy "smash the car window then"

That was the one that got me a'ranting and a'raving!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrr

I believe I was still at the 'restraining the crazed spaniel's newfound eventing enthusiasm' stage of the day then. One day I hope he will get used to the idea that horses are able to do more than stand in a field and eat, and furthermore that they do not need him cheering them on to do so....

Must admit my dogs astonish me when we go eventing, bearing in mind they are obssessed about chasing anything and everything fast moving they ignore the horses completely

But then that has to be a good thing really

Was wondering whether anyone knew if the dogs were OK afterwards? I heard the one about the BMW owner and it spoilt my day a bit tbh. As you say, how can anyone possibly think their dog would be ok left in the car on a day like today, when we got back to ours we had the air con running for about 10 mins before we could get in it!!

I didn't hear anything, like you I was sitting outside the car with all the doors and the back open to air it before we got in. It was so hot, my face is all sunburnt!

I hope they broke into the car in time

What I don't understasnd is why take your dogs if you are just going to leave them in the car anyway??

When I was there two years ago, just as we arrived there was an announcement on the tannoy about a lost dog being found. We bumbled round, walked the course etc. THREE HOURS LATER, we got to about fence 20 or whatever it was - lost dog, STILL there with fence judge. No one had claimed him, or noticed he was gone!!

Really, some people just shouldn't have dogs....

How cute is Henry

I hope you didn't share the ice cream after

Don't even talk to me about those spivs

At the game fair here in May, it was ridicuously hot (sun? in Northern Ireland?) people left a St Bernard in the car
frown.gif
They announced it over tannoy, no-one came but my friend who was worknig security managed to wiggle her arm into crack in the window and unlock it to free doglet.
