Havent been for at least 10 years and planning to go this Saturday for the day. How much time should I leave for getting in, (Im about an hour away) and how busy and crowded does it get. Im not very good in huge crowds, get a bit stressed when I feel too enclosed, so don't normally venture to the big events but from memory this is a bit less crowded and easier to walk around. Also is the shopping good, looking for a few new bits and thought I might wait and see if any of the bigger names have any show offers on, is this likely do you think.

Went to blenheim last year, wasn't massive but had a fair selection of stores. I'd take wellies though as it got very muddy last year

I went 3 years ago and had a fab time, shopping was really good. We went on the Sat and it was busy from about 10 till 2 but we walked the XC course during that time and then shopped in late afternoon/early evening.

Didn't take us very long to get in if I remember rightly, we prebooked tickets which made it a bit quicker. It was busy but not half as bad as Badminton etc.

I really like Blenheim but refuse to go again after last year when they promised all the way through the week running upto the event that it would still run "yes it had rained but the ground was superb"!! Only to cancel it on the Friday night. We travelled up from Cornwall and booked into a £120/night hotel for 3 nights, an hour after booking in we were told it had been cancelled

I don't think you went on the Saturday, it was cancelled

I go every year and no, it isn't big but as said above, there is a fair selection. Don't think you will need wellies this year, we are dry under foot here ATM, but of course that could change. Saturday is busy but not silly busy. If you are only an hour away and you can get off work then go Thurs after 3pm as you get in free (haven't checked you can this year, but it is usually the case!).

Traffic is usually very well managed BTW, never had to queue to get in, but if I go on a Saturday I don't usually get there until 11ish.

thanks everyone, am really looking forward to it and all your comments have helped. Will put wellies in boot just in case, have organised neighbours to dogsit as I just couldn't be coping with 3 spangles as well as very non horsey OH who says he is looking forward to going but might change his mind when he sees all the trade stands beckoning

Heres hoping the sun stays out and everyone has a good day!

I didn't go on Saturday, I went on the Thursday/Friday (cant quite remember which) with College so I know it was open having seen the dressage. But like I said was extremely muddy

Yes it was open Thurs and Fri, I was there too

The OP was asking about Saturday crowds which are a world apart from the Thurs and Fri crowds, which can never be called a crowd, thankfully LOL!

No wellies are going to be needed this year unless something freak happens as it is forecast to be great weather here - whoopeee!
