Bling on a highland?

Bling it up baby!

Highlands are deserving of sparkle. Fergs seems to be one of those that could pull it off well too. Can you post pics when you get it?

You are not allowed to come and live up here (Highland central: I can think of at least 20highlands within a couple mile radius) as you may just be draw and quartered.

Guessing you don't show him as a highland if you plait up? He's a nice example, although not nearly fat enough......ooops, I mean 'show condition' enough for many judges.

yes it says that can... do you think orange is ridiculous? I've just asked FFM if they can order me the HKM orange matchy saddlecloth and bandages :D

Dolly's really suits her :) You don't have to worry about the pirate gear, it wouldn't fit my fat beasts :mad: You should be aware that your daughter is now a trend setter though :D I love the idea of a raincoat for you too ;)

I agree with dh. Bling all the way. My friend's hopefully buying a percheron and I am pushing her towards some bling. She says bling and draft don't go together, but she wants him for dressage, so they clearly do :D

Lol, he's more of an anti-highland - he currently thinks he is a racehorse :cool: It's ok, I promise to stay safely in the south :D

I do show occasionally (unplaited!) but I'm fed up with the new and subtle ways I get told he is too slim, and judges not knowing what he is. I sj occasionally, do things like horseball and TREC and do a fair bit of dressage. Aiming for a little ODE next month too. I get really bored showing tbh :o

Yay more enablers, encouraging me to spend money on bling :D:D:D (as if I need enabling!) There can definitely be photos if you would like to see it, just for you m'dear!
 
bespoke browbands.......the facebook link are the people that made my bridle....and stirrup leathers......and dog collars :) I can highly recommend them.

His sexiness...I like it!! He is gorgeousness personified. I rode him this evening (finally!) and although I intended to just pootle about, he was keen to show off how wonderful he is - we did sideways cantering, and 3-time skippety hops! I am SO lucky to have this horse!!
 
I'd say no, no, no. I think most highlands would drop dead from the shame if presented with blingy things. I was brought up around highlands and it was same colour accessories all the way. In my books only warmbloods need bling, I am very traditional though :D

For traditional, read "boring" :D Mine like matchy matchy and colour co-ordination... But they aren't normal highlands... Fergs actually thinks he's meant to be a sports horse :eek:

I caught the bling bug just a few months back and now all my Natives are not only blinged to within an inch of their lives but they are also starting to successfully matchy match as well.

I actually do have the HKM orange saddlecloth with matching bandages, the saddlecloth off ebay and the bandages from another site, to match them i have an amber sparkly browband also from ebay...... and i have many other colours.......but to be fair i do have more than one pony to share the stuff so i don't feel too bad, as a kid and until very recently i was of the brown/black/navy brigade but my inner diva is well and truly out now and my boys even wear pink! - LOL

Not completely perfect - He does really really dumb things too. Like waiting til I have strapped him, then having a flid, banging his head on the gutter, and standing there shaking and snorting as black slime from said gutter rains down all over his clean shininess.

And in other flid related news - this was his fault..

haha I have 3 but one's semi-retired and the other's two. But they're similar sizes and shapes so they share everything - it makes me feel so much better about my masses and masses of matchy matchy :o Good to know I'm not the only native owner who traumatises them with bling and matchy-ness! :D:D

Ouch, Aus, how'd he do that to you?! At least he can walk the walk when you're on him. Fergs is being a total tart about everything atm ("OMG SAVE ME that bird is plotting to kill me!" *jump on top of me/spook/spin/launch*) and he doesn't even have any redeeming features when you're on him!

Similar scenario to the Ferg one. He is a spooky idiot in hand - and he tried to do a Scooby Doo style leap into my arms, so I could protect him from a blade of grass that looked at him funny. All he succeeded in doing was knocking me over flat on my face....he then added insult to injury by snorting like a dragon at the 'thing' on the floor.

Haha pimp my pony! Poor beast already has to put up with being dressed up like a barbie doll! I could do a thread about his wardrobe. It would go on for a very long time ;)

it would have looked awesome if he'd managed to land in your outstretched arms though. Very scooby doo :D

Hehe..love him really! plonker is always falling over! I haven't even got on him yet! going to increase my life insurance first :D...have visions of being squished on the floor by a giant black lab pretending to be a friesian :D

I'll try harder next time!! Had an opp last night, but due to the swamp slime he was plastered in - I stayed out of reach until he had stopped flidding!! He is such a wally. Totally laid back one minute, then has a meltdown, then reverts to laid back again! Least he knuckles down and focuses on work when I'm on him...
 
he definitely has redeeming features - even if he's a swamp monster with a "funny coloured grass" phobia :D

wow who did she use for that? I wouldn't mind an OH made to order - one who'll do my manual labour yard tasks and put jumps up without fuss. Must have off switch for when not in use. Other details at manufacturer's discretion :D
