I had a lesson on Tuesday and he went fab, albeit a little keen, my own stupid fault I forgot my gloves and my ring finger on my right hand is in a right mess, red raw.

I have a lesson tomorrow and a saddle fitting on saturday, has anyone any tips on how to heal these quickly, do I cover it up, leave it incovered.

I have thick rubber reins and I guess the friction during my dressage lesson just rubbed the skin right off, never again will I forget my gloves.

Ouch! I would let the air get to it, but try and keep it dry so that it dries out. If you need to ride then protect it with a plaster and gloves.
I've been known to ride with the reins through middle finger and ring finger when I've done this before! Not ideal but otherwise it hurts!!

Compeed blister plasters, never tried using one on a hand, more designed for feet but wonderful things for raw skin. I lost the skin on the balls of both feet while doing a long distance walk and managed another 140 miles with these.

Yes I'm not sure how I will manage probably that much padding around that finger that I won't be able to bend my finger around the reins.

Its just a good job he went well for me , cos I'd hate to have a finger like this if he hadn't performed.

I am leaving the skin uncovered but it keeps weeping then dries and then I can't straighten the finger.

Oooh I do get my self in some predicaments!

Try compeed or scholl or even boots own brand hydrocolloid blister plasters. They are quite flexible, and are designed to help blisters heel. Maybe get one of the toe blister ones, as these are designed to wrap around toes and are smaller than the heel ones.

Yup the blister plasters do the job!! The aren't that bulky really!I did exactly the same thing as you - no gloves and someone elses reins on a double bridle and they shredded my fingers! Was fine to ride 24 hours later, again with double reins!

Very fine pin prick to ease out fluid if any left (some people say dont pop but we were always told its ok so long as its a fine hole that cant let too much back in) then bathe in strong salt water!! the salt will help dry it up. They wont heal before your lesson so I would put plasters on then take them off after to let the air get to them! Once they have healed properly a little meths around the soft areas hardens them off so they are less likely to blister quite so easily but make sure they are completely healed or you will be through the roof!!

Compeed blister plasters are brilliant - don't pop them, don't do anything to them, just stick the plasters on and leave them there until they fall off easily. They are designed to work like a second skin and heal blisters, and they are brilliant!

Thanks guys, I have blister plasters and ordinary plasters on and will try and put two pairs of gloves on also, dressage lesson here I come- must be mad !!!
