Murphy has two little blisters on the edge of his mouth that have come up in the past week. They don't seem to bother him too much but they don't look very nice.

Am I right in thinking this could be caused by buttercups in his field?!

What can I put on them to help them heal?

It is possible.

My 14.1hh pony with a pink nose has this problem and has horrid scabs all over his nose from the buttercups. I put wonder gel to soothe.

Obvious is to change to a field without buttercups, but I cant do this. Other that that you could try a barrier cream to protect

Unfortunately Murph can't change fields, there's not many buttercups in there but there is a little patch of them.

I wonder if sudocrem would work as a barrier? Bit worried it would get in his mouth though...

I'll look out for wonder gel.

Hi,one of our ponies had a couple of blisters on edge of mouth last week and we applied a thin layer of sudocream .they healed lovely within a couple of days. We were also worried about him swallowing it thats why we applied it very thinley and had no probs........ Hope you go on ok

speak to the vets coz if he has sores on his mouth he has eaton some and they could get stomach ulscers aswell its better to be safe than sorry evev if it is just advice from then!

the little pony that my son rides has just come in yesterday with a blister on his mouth. Definately not sunburn, but theres some buttercups in his field and I wonder if its the same thing you are talking about.

hiya, i'm new here, but thought i'd add that my 4yr old welsh sec D has these, she has done since she was a yearling apparently. There are no buttercups in her field and it isn't sunburn. Vet looked a couple of years back and didn't have a clue! They don't bother her at all, even when poked and prodded by me and her old mummy! her full brother gets them as well! would Effol Skin repair help or would that hurt it as it smells potent but works wonders on every other cut, graze, scrape etc (slightly obsessed with the stuff!!!)
