I was just wondering how many of you request bloods being taken during a 5* vetting when looking at a potienal new Horse?

I am having a Horse 5* vetted next week, Bloods were included in the price, but just got me wondering do people usually bother with them?

I do, but have never had to use them.

I'm not spending too much, I wasn't sure about getting the bloods done, but it was included in the price anyway so thought why not.

I too have heard some horror stories re sedation, bute etc :(

I always get bloods done. If the horse dramatically changes character/goes horribly lame once home you then get the bloods checked to make sure there was no doping. You have some comeback if you have had bloods taken.

I've never had a vetting done (first Horse) so I am assuming they take the bloods, freeze and only test if and when requested? Or do they automatically look at them and give you the results?

Spot on. As far as I know, bloods are taken as part of the 5* vetting, as standard. They are then stored for 6 months I think, and tested only if there becomes a problem with the horse.
