bloodhounds....

We used to have a bloodhound, she was a gorgeous dog, but her life was ruled by her nose. She tracked everywhere, would frequently go straight past you with her nose on the ground, tracking where you had walked a few minutes earlier.:p Sadly she died of bloat at only 2 years old, it is something the breed is very prone to, and would be the main thing that would put me off them.

As suggested bloat is a big killer in this breed, they are such big and very strong and strong willed dogs, sadly the 2 I had dealings with where very aggressive. They both died of bloat too.

Bloodhounds are wonderful,if you are pretty sporty and will free exercise every day. They do chew a lot, like all hounds are better in couples, and have the rare talent of be able to stick drool to the ceiling of any room. Much better as outdoor dogs, beautiful as they are!
