Just out of curiosity if your horses great great grandfather was a famous/well known horse would you say that your horse had good blood lines? or is it too far down the 'horsey tree'? thanks

Well to really qualify for the plural "lines" there needs to be at least two removes of quality and preferrably more...... but thank the lord you do say "bloodlines" and not pedigree which I notice even some high up Horseypeople now use. I could get rather snobby about that!

Thanks, oh a bit gutted then. Found my horseys great great grandad was secretariat( dont know if ive spelt it right). Thought it was too far down the bloodlines though to count

If he's the one in your avatar - it does't matter - he looks good and has lovely big ears - that makes him honest!

Lots of TBs will be descended from famous horses. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're the best bred horse in the world, but it's interesting nevertheless - look at it as your own little connection with history :)

Nice horse BTW.

Thank you he's a sweetie! No your right it wont make a difference to me, just interested really as to whether people would class him as having good blood lines or not

GG grandfather doesn't count unless more than half the remaining 31 horses at that generation are decent too.

My mare goes back to Eclipse and Fray Bentos - she's not even a Thoroughbred.

Ive been looking in to it and many of the horses are very good racers, think he let his family tree down a bit racing wise bless him not the best racer that came about:L but certainly a very amazing horse to me:) Slightly off topic but have any of you heard of Key of Luck USA a stallion ?
