Had bloods taken yesterday as following colic on Friday pony not really eating properly and is really not himself.

Results came back this evening, he's quite anaemic, has raised gastric enzymes in blood, and also had positive worm count in poo test.

Am waiting for vet to get back to me tomorrow re a Gastric specialist vet coming to scope him for ulcers asap, but currently going out of my mind worrying about him. I lost a horse (tb ex racer) last year to severe stomach ulcers (he came to me with them) and was too far gone by the time I got him for any drugs to fix him. This is my beloved pony who has been out on loan for a year and this has happened while with loanees. He's not lost weight, yet, but is so obviously so poorly.

Please can you throw some ideas out there that will give me hope that he is going to be ok?

This is the pony that has been out on no grass so the chances are the field/ fields at the yard are over grazed with a high level of worms in what grass is available. It is most likely worm damage causing the colic and the blood results, ulcers I would think are unlikely without other symptoms but possible.
The yard sounds as if it is unsuitable for many reasons, no grass, no hay allowed in field, high worm levels and unless something changes in the yard management whatever treatment your pony gets will be undone by poor ongoing management which is out of the hands of the loaners.
Can you get the loaners to look for somewhere else to keep him, if they will not I would take him home and treat him before finding someone else to loan.

I am sure he will get over this but probably not without serious changes being made.

He will be coming home as soon as he has seen the specialist. He doesn't need to be on loan, it was more that they were better placed to 'do' something with him than me this time last year, so he went to them rather than me leave him in a field for 6 months and 'waste him'. Sadly, he could have come home 6 months ago, but I didn't want to break the girls heart for no reason. He certainly won't be managed like this again.

It is so hard with ponies you try to do best by them, they are so much better off doing something rather than getting fat lazing around in the field, I have one that needs to be doing something but loaning is such a minefield I am still stalling about finding somewhere for him.
