Rode Fly in a Silver loose ring snaffle with lozenge (so mild) but in the cheltenham gag style with two reins! Bloody hell, what a mouthful! Took me back to my polo days (18 yrs ago) eeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!The cheltenham gag is such an underestimated bit in my opinion, it is the only TRUE gag. I was brought up on them as a polo groom at Smiths Lawn many moons ago. Fly was somewhat "shocked" that i had back up! Bless! xx Anyone else got an opinion on them?

I think that in the right hands they are a very useful piece of kit, but i see so many being used roughly out hunting by folk who don't have good enough hands for them.
I have ridden for 20 years, and when i was having problems stopping, my instructor had me try a double bridle in the school and i had a few lessons in it to make sure i could cope. I now only ride in a double briidle (weymouth and bradoon) out hunting, on the basis i can drop the curb rein if he's being good (and he often is on a forestry day, just not much on a jumping day!)

but that's just my opinion!
