My guy has a snotty nose again 2 x rays, 3 sets of antibiotics later, cleared up and now its appeared again yesterday he had a little bit and today more.

Just need to rant and don't know where to go from here. I am going use my usual vet this time and get them out to look at it!

They thought it could be a cyst as he has one in his ear on that side too. But while I was waiting for insurance to come back to me we put him on a long 3 week course of antibiotics, then re-xrayed and they said it looked to now be clear.

This was about 3 weeks ago now! Only thing in that time that has been different is he has stayed in his stable a couple days. I just dont know why it has come back, its such a frustrating situation!

Cotswold herbs sell neem leaf. Try a small fistful in his feeds for 5 days and see if it helps. May well do - has worked spectacularly well for this kind of thing before.

My friends Arab gelding has the same thing. Several lots of antibiotics , Xrays etc .It did seem to clear up but then it came back. He had to go back into the vets and they found a large cyst, once operated he has had no problem since. He can now breath properly and is working so much better now.

It is fine dealing with the symptoms but you need to find the cause first.

In the mean time you could try putting some Vick around the nostrals.

Is he snotty from both nostrils or one only? My Arab had a really bad infection in his gutteral pouch onlly one nostril was snotty, his was found by scoping they first thought he had a bad tooth.

I wonder why the vet has not wanted to scope before i would have thought it would be the first thing to do, how long has your horse had the snotty nose?

Just to update my pony went into clinic today. Vets believe it to be a tooth root infection however, they have advised me best thing to do it get a ct scan done to confirm it before they go any further. So Connor is off to Bristol this month for a scan and then some sort of operation following brilliant!
