All the neighbours surrounding our field are lovely - bar one. He used to shoot at my fence posts and wheelbarrow (until someone 'had words' with him

), and chucked weed killer over the fence to kill the nettles that were growing in MY field. If the horses had eaten the dying nettles they could easily have become ill. He also used to chuck his dog crap into the field until I started chucking it back into his garden

Tonight he knocks at my door and tells me the horses have eaten all the plants in his garden. Didn't know my horses had Go Go Gadget necks that extend to 20 feet long but apparently they do. He said he was going to come into the field and put razor wire accross it so the nags can't stick their heads over his garden fence. I was stood with my mouth open, didn't get chance to get a word in, and his parting shot was 'I'll send you the £100 bill to replace the plants'.

Fair enough, the horses shouldn't have nibbled his roses and lavender (which is all he has against the fence line) but to come round screaming and shouting after his previous behaviour was a bit rich.

Tomorrow I will move the leccy fencing and but a double row up in front of Mr Nasty's fence and the horses are moving to their winter home on Sunday so I won't have to put up with the whinging arse for a few months. While the horses are away we will stick some post and rail up so they can't get near his garden and then he will have nothing to moan about. Sure he will still find something though!

Phew, feel better after that rant!

sounds like a right idiot dont understand some people's perspective on life at all....putting razor wire up so your horses could actually get harmed in just down and right evil...and he would certainly not like a vet bill or two would he...stuff the plants....they grow back but horse's muzzles and tongues dont....git!!!

oh poor you having to put up with this kind of thing on your own land too...

He is a complete arse. Still not convinced that it wasn't one of his dogs that attacked Ellie in the summer. He has been known to chuck his dogs in the field instead of walking them - perhaps I should give him the £160 vet bill for that, plus the pay I lost looking after Ellie.

what a tw*at.
however im sure that razor wire on a residentail property is illegal, but i believe its not if you put it on your field - to stop him dumping his dogs in your field (thats what i got told by the police as I have the same kind of lovely neighbour as this guy - i told the police i was going to put razor wire on and link it up to the mains
grin.gif
- good job they took is as it was meant, a joke)

if i were you, if you get a bill off him, reply by letter stating you have deducted the £100 off the bills he owes you and then see what he has to say.

Pitty you cant get yourself a nice hungry gaurd dog!

Sounds like the one we used to have, threw his grass cuttings into the field loads of times. we sent a note to every house telling them of the dangers. With everone looking out forus he didnt do it again.

He's not allowed to put razor wire up.

With regards to your electric fencing do move it so that the horses can't eat his plants (didn't you have this problem in the summer?). I have to say I'd be pretty furious if my plants were being munched on.

Look put up a double barrier fencing, go and see a solicter that does equine stuff. Take photos of said boundry and if need be put up treble bardwire or so ,so if he does chuck his dogs into your field to do their business, he'd have a great deal of difficuclty getting them out again, specially if there was an electric fence up as well. Sorry but think Evil.

All the other neighbours can't stand him. One neighbour reported him to the police after he shot her greenhouse, breaking a pane of glass while her toddler children were playing in the garden. He isn't well liked.

The houses round the field are large and expensive. This guy is a perfect example of not being able to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

I found a way to deal with nuisance neighbours whose gardens back on to my field. You are allowed to erect a solid fence 2 metres high on the perimeter of your land so long as it is not on a public highway. I didn't actually need to do this, just tell them I would if I had any more trouble. They like the view across my field & tried to tell me I couldn't block their view but I had already consulted my local council who said I could as they weren't entitled to view & I wouldn't be blocking light. Also 2m high will stop horses from reaching over. Or you could 'plant' loads of nettles & thistles on your side of the fence which will keep the horses away from the fence & nettles encourage butterflies - environmentally friendly!
