Has she been impersonating a member of the army then? I'd get in touch with them and see if she has any real links.

Can I just point out, that all the horses used by the army are bought as unbroken youngsters from Ireland, and then bought back to England to the Defence Animal Centre in Melton Mowbray for backing and breaking.

I am afraid it sounds to me like you were being taken for a ride (if you excuse the pun!) by an unscrupulous dealer who was simply going to sell your horse on and wanted to make a fast buck by leaving it until the last minute to drop her offer and hoping that you were desperate to sell. Sounds to me like your horse had a VERY lucky escape.

This is not entirely true - whilst the majority are bought unbroken from Ireland, some are sourced pivately through adverts, normally for specific jobs.

It does however sound very fishy to me - I would not expect an 'army scout' to text anyone. They nearly always bring a vet from the RAVC with them to view as well.

If she is too old for what she originally said then even at £1000 she will be too old. Sounds like this woman is trying it on to me.

Definately not the black cavalry horses, they come from Ireland as unbroken youngsters. I know the previous Sgt Corporal of the Horse and asked him about where they all come from. I believe the OP said that she is a black mare that is being sold?

I was just about to say, they buy them before they are even backed!
A friend used to work with the horses in the police and I believe they use the same sort of methods and training etc but yes I think someone is messing you about.

Must admit I thought it was extremely unlikely the army would take a 9 year old.
I don't think they only take Irish bred horses now as I read they have some hannoverians now.
My own horse is an army reject from Ireland not picked for having too much brown in his coat. I think they are very specific about what they want and not sure if they pay particularly high prices?

I think you should follow that link and ring Cobham Manor today, they are a reputable establishment and need to know about this. If you haven't already, you should also be contacting the army for advice. You need to do something to stop her doing the same thing to other people. Please do...
