Bloom Shampoo - can you still get it ?

I have no idea but I can bring back the memory of that smell just by thinking about it.

Hot summer days, shampooing horses with Bloom on the yard while an old transister radio plays 1970s (current at the time :o) pop music......

and you were thought off as posh it you used it and not washing up liquid for 9p from the shop and the smell of proper hoof oil

it would be great to be able to buy the combination as air freshners for the car !

When I returned to horse after my three decade gap, the smells could move me to tears. Hoof oil, neatsfoot, Cornucresine......

And the only air freshener smell in my car is the great smell of horse poo. :D

Sad story: A very dear friend of mine, another ex-horsey person who had been ill for some years had cancer two years ago. He asked to come up to the farm I rode at, just to sit among the horses for a while.

He said, "I may not be well enough to ride or handle them, but just the smells would be wonderful..."

We tried to arrange for this but he was too ill and it never happened. He died two years ago this week.

Since then, I've become a horse owner again and I often wish I could have just one day with dear Pete and give him the chance to be on the yard and smell those old smells again. :(

What a sad stroy -

Its the nosie i love too the munching of hay - only horses can make it look so tastey.

A snort, and a nicker, a neigh, the sound of shoes on the ground and the thunder of hooves

Muddy horse in the sun is another good one.
I might just nip off and smell the leather headcollar that I've had since I was 7, smells fantastic, leather doesn't smell like that nowadays for some reason.

I know exact what you mean...& its the smell not of any old products...has to be vanner & prest hoof oil in the red tin..Carr day & Martin glycerine bar soap. Sadly when I bought a bottle of bloom for purely sentimental reasons I found the recipe/smell was completely different.

So many smells, the hoof oil must be the red tin though, the others don't smell the same at all! Green oils brings childhood pony time back to me too - wonderful smell!
