Its such lovely weather today, I thought Ellie could have a much-longed for day in the slightly-less-squelchy field. She was fine for the first couple of hours, seemed delighted to be out again. Had to go out for an hour at lunch; came back to find her tearing up and down the field like a lunatic. It seems that the marksman has been at the farm, trying to eliminate the big dog fox that has been terrorising everyone's hens and ducks. Gunshots = lunatic horse.....however I didnt realise quite how over the top she had gone until I took her rug off...bearing in mind she was clipped last week....

Now I think this is a little excessive, don't you? Considering the fact that a) the gunman wasnt even in her field, and b) when the gun went off whilst I was leading her in, she didnt bat an eyelid! Bloomin' horse!

PS. I washed her down with cold water and have left her without her rugs till the evening....do you think this will be ok?

She has a nice little cooler on, a fleece and a quilt, so I think she'll be fine!

I'm a bit slow today

Shouldn't you be worried about her getting a bit hot

LOL! Well, she is a bit of a pansy so I'd rather run the risk of having to put another rug on tonight, than have her complain she's too cold now! Have just checked her and I think she's fine, eyes are still wide with shock though! Silly, silly mare!

Blimey!!! She been playing with shaving foam???

Ignoring the sweat for a moment...she's a lovely looking horse!!

My gelding does just as bad...beginning of January he got in a tizz over something...we can only assume it was because we had thick fog and he couldn't see his friends in the next paddock...

he was absolutely saturated, from muzzle to tail to heels. Moronic animal!! He's 24 and it was freezing so he got a thorough grooming, a dry rug and a giant haynet.

I thought you were in the middle of bathing her!!!

Silly horsie, fancy getting in that state

She'll be fine but i'd keep a fleece blanket next to her skin tonight

I thought my horse was bad til I saw yours!
When I went to fetch Jerry in yesterday he was galloping flat out round and round our 1 acre field. I wouldn't have thought he would be able to get up to the speed he did in such a small space.
Needless to say, the field now looks like it has been ploughed and Jerry was a sweaty mess!
Thank goodness he came in still with four shoes on and no lameness!
