fed up with it :( We’ve got a pony with SI and 4 times today, (4 times!) Ive had to go out re-do up the neck and put the belly flap back on. What a stupid design :( As soon as he itches his neck, the whole thing gets undone and then the neck is off, useless. Same happens with the belly flap, one rub and the velcro comes undone and the flap lands on the floor. Sigh :(

My Sweet Itch pony has the sweet itch bug buster with belly and it is brilliant on her. Only rug she has not destroyed and into second season. I guess different ponies suit different rugs unfortunately and it is time and expensive error to find a match.

well yes, that’s the intention of course. They are always still going to have a scratch though and Ive not had this happen with other rugs, although they’ve had different neck fastenings.

How on earth does the scratching manage to undo the velcro on all of the neck tabs, force it through the metal slot and refasten the velcro?

I have 4 bug busters, and I find the necks the most fiddly things on the planet to do up - I can't imagine them coming undone (and re-done up) by the most vicious scratching.

Are you sure it isn't being "helped" in anyway?

I've never had an issue with the Bug Buster, I used to have one for my SI mare.
I do highly recommend the PE Sweet Itch rug though, it was brilliant for my mare, coupled with a Snuggy hood neck cover underneath as luckily she wasn't a hot horse, so she could wear layers in summer.

actually yes i do have my suspicions but im yet to observe the suspected culprit in action haha

This happens with my pony's PE rug too! I don't know how he manages it but he does. I rent my yard privately so no liveries to interfere

Also got a PE fly rug, dreadful fit on a big shouldered horse, waste of money. May be better on a TB type but I certainly wouldn't get another of their rugs.

I use the sweet itch buster on my big shouldered cob. Fits very well. I too can't imagine how a horse could undo the neck straps. I never had issues with the belly until my daughter got a youngster who likes to undo the Velcro.
Perhaps the bug buster is different..not really designed for itching more to just keep flies off
