I've just had a text from the owner of the yard I rent to say that as my horses are damaging the yard I need to move out by the end of January.

WTF?? They have occasionally chewed some of the wooden posts that hold the electric tape- they cost £2 each and I would be happy to replace them if they break/when I eventually leave (hadn't planned to leave any time soon).

I'm really peased off and need a rant, bloody stupid people, what the effing hell do they expect horses to do??? Behave perfectly 100% of the time?? Grrrr....

I pay on time (early in fact) every month and keep everything tidy, never hassle them about things that need doing (not had water for a month as well is frozen). Just...GRAAAGH!

I can't decide whether to say ***** or OMLGG...

That is not on, have they given you notice in writing? Are they allowed to just turf you off just like that? Just before Xmas too... are they infact human?

hugs to you SL xx

That's a bit silly- our yard owner is great!

We have horses, goats and dogs breaking fences each week- stable doors trampled down from rogue horses chasing rogue goats ( we get the odd numpty who forgets to shut the gate), and electric fencing being repaired weekly!

Our YO understands horses CAN be horses and like children, do break things!

I feel your pain though and hope you find a better yard!

Someone at my yard was asked to leave for a similar reason recently - nobody could believe it as hers wasnt the only guilty horse:confused: There maybe other reasons your not aware of?

Cant you say that you dont want to leave etc and see if you can come to an agreement ?

Doing something like that via text isn't on. Would it be worth you having a chat with her face to face. Suppose it depends on the kind of relationship you have with the yard owner? Just know that I would like to hear it from them straight so I could discuss it properly.

What a bombshell just before xmas!

How nice of her to text you!!! No wonder your fuming. Id have to ask her exactly what was going on. Horses do chew wood, break fencing etc, cant see what her problem is.

I'm a YO and I can honestly say, when you spend thousands of pounds out on fencing, it is heartbreaking to watch it being ruined without a 'sorry I'll replace that' or 'would you mind if I tape it off as I think my horse is chewing'.

Bit of a bad thing to do though to just send a text....should be at least a phonecall.

Sorry :(

I absolutely see your point but this isn't posh post and rail fencing- it is £2 a post natural wood that is holding up the electric tape. Not to say there is anything wrong with that, it's just certainly NOT thousands of pounds worth. And yes, texting is bloody rude! I have also said in the past that anything my horses break/damage/eat/headbutt/use for firewood I will replace. Sorry, not a ramt at you, just wanted to make things clear.

I think I will call her when I calm down and ask if there is anything I can do to enable me to stay. Maybe I'll just abandon the darned horses, I am sick of it all anyway (joke).

Sorry :) Ive re read my post and it reads a bit stronger than meant,
Im not saying its ok for a horse to destroy fencing, that must be heartbreaking, I meant, some horses do chew wood and to some degree it has to be expected. If the horse in question is causing a major problem then I would have thought YO should really have had a word with the owner to see if there is a compromise rather than just text to say move.

very, very unprofessional of them to text you

Are you sure it isnt someone having a joke or someone that has got hold of their phone etc..

Worth not going in all guns blazing just in case - even if they did send the text you'll damage your chances of staying if you get angry

Ask to speak to them about their text and see what the reaction is - stick to facts and ask to be shown around each bit of damage and at each point accept/deny the damage and advise what you will do to put it right if its your fault

Stay calm x

Honestly the woman is clearly deranged - but unfortunately you do get a few of them in the horse world!

Its not ideal of course but probably you are ultimately better off away from both her and the yard - sure you can find somebody much more deserving of your money who will actually provide such things as water and electricity, and won't spy on everything you do!

Maybe she would like to put some nice my little ponies and breyers into the fields - sure they'll behave themselves nicely!

I agree with what someone else already said on here, it sounds like she wants you off and is using that as an excuse. I'm quite sure she can't just demand you leave though and has to give you reasonable notice. My landlord has had loads of hassle trying to evict some people from one of his fields, and he had good reason but still he wasn't allowed to just turf them off, I think they got 2 months notice and the police were involved, all rather difficult and unpleasant.

It seems a bit daft and very disrespectful in my opinion. Why not just ask you to pay for repairs? To echo what others are saying, it sounds as if the YO wants rid and is just using it as an excuse.

I do think you both need to talk but ffs, a text? You may be better off elsewhere.

My little pony! Hahahaaa, I love that. Y'know, I'm a bit calmer now. The horses have chewed some of the (cheap) fenceposts and I was expecting to replace them when they were too thin so I am not denying the "damage". It's just rather crappy, I do have somewhere else to go but there is no hard standing or storage facility so it's not as nice (although waaay cheaper) and there is a possibility of another yard in a couple of months. I do have til the end of Jan to move so plently of time. Just really upset that someone can be so random as to demand that I move my 4 horses because they are hooligans and chew some wood without suggesting that I should replace it or talking to me about some other options. People....

You need to talk to her...what if she didn't send the text........well, you never know, but if you ask her you will get it from the YO's mouth....so to speak.
Good Luck

Thanks hon, I'm pretty sure that she did send the text but I will try to speak to her tomorrow and see if she was just having a bad day.....

Anyone got any cake?

I'm thinking unless she has someone else lined up to take on the yard, or even if she does unless their horses are saintly she'll have a lot more than a bit of chewed wood to be annoyed about!

Geeez she sounds like a nightmare. My two have gone thru hedges,my boy knocked down a concrete post and it had to be rebuilt, the little section A has jumped over the fence.Theyve even got into the neibouring farmers field, even they didnt care. Guess Im very lucky as I have the field to myself. The owner of the field (friend of the family) has even bought me elec fencing.
If I was you,Id find a field and rent it for yourself, put a shed up for storage and a mobile shelter. You do not need the hassle.Better off if your on your own.
